A world of independent film comes to "Everybody's Hometown" as the 6th Annual Media Film Festival prepares to screen outstanding work by local, national and international filmmakers. The 2 day festival takes place Friday, April 5th and Saturday April 6th at the Media Borough Community Center, 3rd and Monroe Streets. Sponsored by the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, the Media Film Festival is a juried presentation of outstanding narrative, documentary, animated and experimental films. Admission is $10. The Media Theatre held auditions for the 2012 "Delco Idol" contests on May 21 and 23. More than 150 singers participated, and now the theatre has chosen this year's contestants. The final list of contestants for "Delco Idol" and "Delco Idol Junior" is available online at www.mediatheatre.org.

Emmy-winner Bill Vargus, best known in the Philadelphia region for his 12 years as FOX-29's sports anchor, will emcee The Media Theatre's "Delco Idol Junior 2012" this summer. The popular Sunday evening vocal contest in which aspiring young singers ages 7-13 perform their hearts out for appreciative audiences begins tonight, July 15 at 7pm.

Media Theatre's "Delco Idol" contest begins tonight, July 11 at 7pm, with the "Junior" competition starting up Sunday July 15 at 7pm. Each continues for a total of five weeks. Five or more contestants are eliminated each week until the finals, when 20 singers will try for the 2012 title in each contest. Iron Workers Bank is the sponsor for the third summer.

FOX-TV's "Good Day Philadelphia" morning anchor Sue Serio returns to emcee "Delco Idol" for the third summer at The Media Theatre, beginning Wednesday evening July 11. She will add her welcoming personality to the popular singing contest during its five week run, through August 8.

The play focuses on just two characters who read the notes, letters, and cards which express their dreams and disappointments that have passed between them throughout their lives-although they have been physically apart for nearly fifty years. Bill Vargus joins Sue Serio in this show that was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for drama.

The weather was as supportive as the patrons and attendees, who were treated to a memorable performance by Broadway's legendary Andrea McArdle following a live auction enthusiastically appropriated by Jeffry Cadorette.

P. Brendan Mulvey, who has appeared in The Media Theatre's Titanic and Show Boat, will be given the Walter M. Strine Award at the theatre's annual Gala on Saturday evening, February 25. The annual award, named after the entrepreneur who revitalized the theatre in 1994 so that a professional music theatre would be a cornerstone of Media borough, will be given to Mulvey prior to the celebratory evening's concert by legendary Tony nominee Andrea McArdle. The honor is given to an individual who keeps the spirit of Mr. Strine alive with their consistent support and advocacy of The Media Theatre.
