The Warner Theatre will present the next production of the 9th Annual International Playwrights Festival - GOOD MORNING by Anne Lucas (MA) - from the Warner’s Nancy Marine Studio Theatre beginning Friday, January 15 at 7:00 pm.

This month, The Studio Theatre™ Tierra del Sol (806 San Marino Drive, The Villages, FL) will open its first production of its fifth season, 9 to 5 The Musical, music & lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick. The production will be staged at The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center (1051 Main Street, The Villages, FL). 

Winners have been announced for the 2020 BroadwayWorld Arkansas Awards - which were back bigger than ever, celebrating the best in local theatre of the past decade! 

Orlando Shakes in partnership with UCF honors Black History Month with two different works featuring African American icons. First up, the theater will produce a Video on Demand performance of Deborah Brevoort’s My Lord, What a Night, filmed onstage in the Goldman Theater.

Today's episode features stage and screen star Stanley Wayne Mathis, who last appeared on Broadway in The Book of Mormon.

Austin Shakespeare will facilitate a masterclass with distinguished Shakespeare Director and Broadway Associate Director Conner Wilson on Saturday, Jan. 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. The cost to audit the workshop is $40.

Steep Theatre will welcome several new members to its ensemble of artists. Laura Alcalá Baker, Debo Balogun, Chris Chmelik, Destini Huston, Omer Abbas Salem, and Joe Schermoly are Steep’s newest Ensemble Members. All six of these artists have played pivotal roles in Steep’s artistic development over the past several years, and the company is honored to have them involved in shaping the organization’s future.

Inspired by a true friendship, Deborah Brevoort’s My Lord, What a Night produced by Orlando Shakes in partnership with UCF will be available to stream February 3 - 14, 2021. This Video on Demand production of My Lord, What a Night is part of a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere.

For the past fourteen years DC Theatre Scene has been the place to go locally to find out what’s what in the DC theatre community. Its Publisher and Editor Lorraine Treanor recently announced the site would stop publishing fresh content on December 31st and, with that, the DMV loses its liveliest local theatre site.

The Jewish Plays Project has announced the 10 finalists for the 10th Annual Jewish Playwriting Contest. Over 250 playwrights from forty states and eight countries submitted plays to the contest. This year, nine of the 10 finalist plays were written by women, the most in the JPP's history.

The Comedy Knights are moving online and reinventing the way local comedy is created and performed for audiences.

The Warner Theatre will present the next production of the 9th Annual International Playwrights Festival - PUT ON A GRUMPY FACE by Reed Halvorson (SC) - from the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre beginning Friday, January 1 at 7:00 pm.

Eden Theater Company will present three new one-act plays set in the kitchen, written by emerging NYC playwrights and created specifically for Zoom. Livestreamed performances will be on Friday February 5 at 8pm, Thursday, February 11 at 8pm, Friday, February 12  at 8pm Friday, February 19 at 8pm, and Saturday, February 20 at 8pm. Tickets ($10) are available for advance purchase at www.eventbrite.com/e/the-kitchen-plays-tickets-132670766835. The performance will run approximately 50 minutes, with no intermission.

Ego Actus Theatre Company today announced it will still present Gary Morgenstein’s new drama A Black and White Cookie, but in an updated version that is set against the backdrop of New York City reopening, post-pandemic. The play will premiere on the On The Air series Saturday, January 16 at 7:30PM/ET, and Sunday, January 24 at 3PM/ET. 

Ensemble Studio Theatre announced today that they will make the return to in-person theater, once it is safe to do so, with their 38th Marathon of One-Act Plays in 2021. This Marathon will be fully comprised of work from artists who identify as Black, Indigenous & People of Color (BIPOC).
