Tony Award winner Kelli O'Hara will give an intimate cabaret performance at Feinstein's54 Below on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. in honor of Music Director Steven Reineke's tenth anniversary leading The New York Pops. Kelli and Steven will jointly curate a program featuring songs from some of their memorable career highlights and work together over the past decade.

The silent auction item at The New York Pops annual gala/concert held at Carnegie Hall and the Mandarin Hotel in April, offered a pianist to play at your private party complete with catering by Trattoria del Arte. The Pops Concert and Gala's proceeds help finance The Pops/Ed Programs. For the third year, the winning bidder got much more than she bargained for. Not only did the advertised pianist (Stephen Sorokoff) appear, but also a slew of New York's must celebrated keyboard artists and entertainers joined the festivities.

The New York Pops announces the appointment of Broadway star Capathia Jenkins to its Board of Directors. Capathia has previously appeared as a soloist with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall on multiple occasions, including during the orchestra's R&B celebration in February 2018.

The holiday season kicks off November 28-December 2 with Tchaikovsky for the Holidays. The New York Pops celebrates the holidays with Under the Mistletoe, on Friday, December 21 and Saturday, December 22 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. The orchestra, led by Music Director Steven Reineke, is joined by Ashley Brown (Broadway's original Mary Poppins, and Belle in the Broadway version of Disney's Beauty and the Beast) for a concert of classic and contemporary carols including "Deck the Halls," "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "Winter Wonderland", and "O Holy Night." Ashley and The New York Pops will also be joined by Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA, who are featured on a Hanukkah Medley, as well as other seasonal favorites.

Steven Reineke celebrated his tenth anniversary as Music Director of The New York Pops during the orchestra's current 2018-19 season. Steven is only the second person to hold the position of Music Director of The New York Pops, which was founded by Skitch Henderson in 1983, and is the largest independent pops orchestra in the United States and the only professional symphonic orchestra in New York City specializing in popular music. The New York Pops, led by Music Director Steven Reineke, kicks off its 2018-19 season with Roll Over Beethoven: A Different Kind of Orchestra today, October 19 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. The orchestra is joined by three time 'Las Vegas Headliner of the Year' singer Frankie Moreno, plus band and a pair of dancers, for an evening of rock 'n' roll favorites by Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and others. Songs include 'Great Balls of Fire,' 'Jailhouse Rock,' 'Eleanor Rigby,' 'Bridge Over Troubled Water,' and more.
The Toronto Symphony Orchestra Announces $2.3 Million Surplus

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) held its Annual General Meeting today, announcing that the TSO ended the 2018 fiscal year with a surplus of $2.3 million. Board Chair Catherine Beck and Chief Executive Officer Matthew Loden outlined a series of initiatives over the past year that have focused the institution's forward momentum, bringing new financial stability and artistic vitality to the TSO. With the recent appointment of Gustavo Gimeno as its new Music Director starting in the 2020/21 season, and with today's announcement of the revenue surplus, the TSO has strengthened its position and is on track to complete multi-year strategic initiatives and continue delivering dynamic musical programs across Toronto.
