On May 12th company members from the national tour of The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess presented Inspired By Love: The Music of Brett Macias Upstairs at Vitellos, benefiting Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP). Inspired By Love featured selections from composer Brett Macias's musicals Gumbo, Beautiful Dreamer, and Beneath the Surface as well as a world premiere song cycle based on the love sonnets of Pablo Neruda. Pumpkin Theatre continues our 46th Season 'Discovering New Friendships Through Familiar Tales' with Seussical Jr. Follow the musical adventure of Horton, an elephant who one day hears voices coming from a speck of dust and spends the rest of his days protecting his new friends from WhoVille. The Cat in the Hat, Mayzie, Getrude McFuzz, The Wickersham Brothers, Jo Jo and more all join in on this mash up of Dr Seuss' favorite tales. Part of our 'Kids for Kids' series, this show will feature younger actors working with Pumpkin Artists to present a professional Main Stage Production. Performances take place today, February 8, 9, 15, & 16.

GREED: A Musical for Our Times will have its debut production by The Tank, Ltd from January 17 through February 5, 2014. With book, music, and lyrics by Michael Roberts, GREED's exploits range from the outrageous Ponzi scheme of 1910 to the subtle sales pitches of retirement planners and mortgage bundlers. With songs like "A Little Juice," "Inside Information," and "The Ballad of Jamie Dimon," GREED takes aim at the obvious, and not so obvious, targets.

Art Wynwood, Miami's international contemporary art fair during President's Day Weekend brought a crowd of 6,200 into the Wynwood Arts District - 1,100 more guests than last year. The VIP Preview honored the late Tony Goldman, a major force in the development of the Wynwood Arts District and the inaugural edition of Art Wynwood. An intimate gathering including Art Wynwood director Nick Korniloff and members of the Goldman family participated in a dove-releasing ceremony in Goldman's honor just before teems of prominent art collectors, designers, curators and art enthusiasts from around the world lined up outside the Art Miami Pavilion to get the first look and acquire new contemporary works.

Perseverance Theatre Opens BIGFOOT Musical Tonight

Perseverance Theatre's second Anchorage season continues with the world premiere musical Bigfoot and Other Lost Souls. This quirky, fun and thoughtful show opens tonight, January 25 at 7:30pm at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts and runs through February 3.
