Fu talmente un successo che a pochi anni dall'uscita crearono una serie tv di sei stagioni dedicata e nel 1988 uno spettacolo teatrale. Spesso pero la trasposizione da un prodotto cinematografico ad uno teatrale o viceversa non e detto riesca a dare giustizia all'opera originale, vivendone di fama riflessa ma senza apportarne ulteriore gloria. Abbiamo visto la versione italiana della Wizard Production al Teatro San Babila di Milano con la regia di Federico Bellone (riprodotta da Giuseppe Musmarra) che conferma questa tendenza.

Fame follows the gruelling training and education regime of several aspiring performers attending the New York City High School for the Performing Arts. Be it dancing, music or acting, students must work hard on their craft while maintaining good academic grades to be able to continue their training at the institute.

Producers Steven Baruch, Marc Routh, Richard Frankel and Tom Viertel announced today that Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs of Leiber & Stoller, the all-new incarnation of the record breaking Broadway hit, will close on Sunday, November 4, 2018. The show will have played 20 previews and 121 performances at Stage 42 (422 West 42nd Street). Previews began on Friday, July 6 and the production officially opened on Sunday, July 22.

Performances for Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs of Leiber & Stoller begin tonight, Friday, July 6 at Stage 42 and today the producers announced the Digital Lottery and Rush policy. Tickets for both the digital lottery and rush tickets will be $30 which includes the facility fee.

The Stage 42 box office (422 West 42nd Street) is now open for the new production of Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs of Leiber & Stoller, which begins preview performances on Friday, July 6 and officially opens on Sunday, July 22. Box office is open Monday - Sunday from Noon - 6pm. If there is an evening performance, the box office will remain open until curtain.

Over the course of a 61-year partnership, Jerry Leiber (d. 2011) and Mike Stoller created enduring classics in a variety of genres including rhythm & blues, pop, country, jazz, cabaret, and-perhaps most notably-rock & roll. It was confirmed this week that Stephen Schwartz, composer/lyricist of WICKED, has added music to his personal appearance at the annual OZ-Stravaganza! WIZARD OF OZ Festival in Chittenango, NY, on Saturday, June 2nd. His on-stage, free-to-the-public interview was announced earlier this month, but Mr. Schwartz has now offered to perform songs from the score of WICKED during that presentation. Schwartz, a three-time 'Oscar' and four-time 'Grammy' Award winner, will appear as the headliner of the 6:30 p.m. event at Chittenango High School, 150 Genesee Street. (Doors open at 6:15.)
