This two person play takes place in a simple Brooklyn brownstone; 79-year-old Alexandra lives a solitary existence with her fleeting memories and is at an impasse with her family over how she should spend her autumn years. Alexandra's long-absent son enters as a most unlikely mediator, to try and save his mother's life as much as his own. Funny and sweet, aching and revelatory, this perceptive play reveals both the fragility and ferocity of life.

Last night HBO hosted the premiere of LARRY KRAMER IN LOVE & ANGER, airing June 29 at 9pm, at the Time Warner Center. In attendance to support both Kramer and the documentary were stars of stage and screen including Mark Ruffalo and Joe Mantello, both of whom starred in THE NORMAL HEART (on HBO and Broadway, respectively) as Ned Weeks, the character that Kramer based on himself. Documentary director Jean Carlomusto, Christine Baranski, Kelly Bishop, Cherry Jones, Stephen Spinella, and President of HBO Documentary Films, Sheila Nevins were also in attendance to screen the film and present Larry with a cake celebrating his upcoming 80th birthday on June 25.

The NYU Tisch School of the Arts annual gala honoring Michael C. Hall, Steven Lutvak and Robert L. Freedman, with a special tribute to Mel Silverman, was held last night, May 4, at the Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall. The evening was hosted by Anna Deavere Smith and featured special presenters Tyne Daly, and Winnie Holzman. The gala performance, directed by Bill Castellino, celebrated the incredible accomplishments of Tisch students, both past and present.
