The New York Philharmonic's staged production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street will be telecast nationally on Live From Lincoln Center, hosted by Audra McDonald, on PBS stations. The air date will be announced at a later time. The production, which opened last night and will run through March 8, 2014, stars bass-baritone Bryn Terfel in the title role and Academy Award-winning actressEmma Thompson as Mrs. Lovett in her Philharmonic debut, New York stage debut, and first time performing the role. Jeff Blumenkrantz will portray The Beadle; Tony Award winnerChristian Borle, Pirelli (marking his Philharmonic debut); Kyle Brenn, Tobias Ragg (debut); Jay Armstrong Johnson,Anthony Hope (debut); Erin Mackey, Johanna (debut); and Olivier Award winner Philip Quast, Judge Turpin (debut and New York stage debut). Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct, Grant Sturiale is the assistant conductor, Lonny Price will direct, Lonny Price and Matt Cowart are the producers, and Josh Rhodes is the choreographer. FIFTY SHADES OF GREY's Eloise Mumford to Lead ABC Pilot WARRIORS

Eloise Mumford, known for her roles on television's LONE STAR and THE RIVER, and appearing in the film adaptation of EL James' racy best-selling novel FIFTY SHADES OF GREY, has just signed on to lead ABC's upcoming pilot WARRIORS, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The world premiere of Greg Edwards & Andy Sandberg's new comedy, Craving for Travel will run Off-Broadway through February 9, 2014 at the Peter J. Sharp Theater (416 W. 42nd Street, NYC). Directed by Sandberg (Shida, The Last Smoker in America), a Tony Award-winner as a producer of Hair, the cast features Michele Ragusa (Young Frankenstein, Disaster!) and Thom Sesma (The Lion King, The Times They Are A-Changin') collectively playing thirty characters-chiefly, Joanne and Gary, rival travel agents (and former spouses) vying for their industry's most prestigious honor: the Globel Prize. Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington Will Return for AVATAR Sequels

Plot points on all three planned sequels are being kept under wraps, but THR has confirmed with sources that 'Sully and Neytiri, the characters played by Worthington and Saldana, respectively, have kids.'

The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts and the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative (MHVI) are teaming up for Socks and Coats for Vets. The collection will take place on Friday, November 1 from 7:00 am - 10:00 am in front of the Marcus Center at 929 North Water Street.

AVATAR Sequels to Begin Production in Late 2014

In an interview with Australian radio station Nova 96.9, Sam Worthington confirmed that production on AVATAR 2 is expected to begin in October 2014, with the third and fourth film on its heels. The three sequels are expected to be released in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Stephen Lang to Bring Solo Show BEYOND GLORY to Uihlein Hall, 11/11

Stephen Lang, award winning playwright, stage and screen star, is bringing back his acclaimed stage production of BEYOND GLORY and will take it on the road this fall. The show will make a stop at the Marcus Center's Uihlein Hall for ONE NIGHT ONLY on Monday, November 11 at 7:30 pm. This special event will take place on Veterans Day and is part of the Marcus Center's mission as a designated War Memorial to 'Honor the Dead by Serving the Living.' A portion of ticket revenue will go to support the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative. Tickets go on sale this Sunday, September 29.

Symphony Space Announces Krzystof Penderecki and More for 2013 - 2014 Music Season

Symphony Space, New York's home for innovative and diverse cultural programming on the Upper West Side, celebrates its 35th season of Music programs in 2013-14 with a stellar array of artists in imaginative, thought-provoking presentations. Curated by Artistic Director Laura Kaminsky, the offerings range from marathon celebrations to intimate recitals, encompassing a rich variety of musical styles. Highlights include a visit from Krzysztof Penderecki, October 25; the fifth THE MUSIC OF NOW MARATHON, with the dream-inspired theme of 'REM: Rapid Ear Movement,' February 1; and appearances by Dar Williams, Tom Paxton, Christine Lavin, and other icons of folk/acoustic music. Capping the season is SLEEPING AROUND, a multidisciplinary festival celebrating the culture, history, art, scene, and scandal of New York's most famous hotels, highlighted by WALL TO WALL SLEEPING AROUND on May 3.
