The Covid-19 pandemic has caused many theatres and theatre companies to struggle to stay afloat. But the 39-year old Actors' Center of Washington (AC) has found ways to adapt which sustain its mission to provide actors with resources to help them to succeed. The importance of the on-line audition announcements, the library of plays, the postings of PWYC performances and other events, and the on-line casting database, which the AC manages for its 800+ members, has necessarily receded during this time of closures. But Emily Morrison, Acting Executive Director of the AC, says that the classes, workshops, and training services always announced and provided by the AC have now increased in significance. Historically, the non-profit Actors' Center has organized its activities around actors' needs, she explains, pointing out that actors have to stay in shape just as athletes do. Since auditioning for shows has been curtailed by the pandemic, Morrison notes that it's the perfect time for actors to work on developing new skills while maintaining techniques. Accordingly, the AC has expanded its role in actor training.

The AUDELCO and Obie-Award-winning Billie Holiday Theatre will present a special virtual edition of its popular 50in50 monologue showcase series with the highly anticipated 50in50:Letters to Our Sons as part of its new #StayAtHome Reading Series, an innovative online play reading series.

On Monday the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and its West coast branch the Art of Acting studio launched in-progress conservatory programs via remote video learning software. Studio leadership spent the last week training faculty on remote video platforms. The studio also announced that its summer programs will begin on July 6, 2020. 

Michelle Danner Acting Studio and Los Angeles Acting Conservatory's online acting classes will continue during the Coronavirus outbreak while on-site classes have been temporarily cancelled. 'As things begin to change rapidly with the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), we are taking precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff and have cancelled all on-site classes at the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory,a?? said Danner.

I Don't Need an Acting Class, a new weekly podcast hosted by Academy and Emmy Award winner and celebrated acting teacher Milton Justice, will be released this month, beginning on March 10th, 2020. Based on his forthcoming book of the same name, the podcast seeks to demystify the craft of acting while answering the question, 'Why take an acting class?'

The genre defining thriller - based on Frederick Knott's stage and screen play, made world famous by Hitchcock's iconic 1954 film - will be directed by Anthony Banks.

The HCLAB Theatre Company and the Art of Acting Studio are proud to present its second annual Old Play Reading Festival, a twist on the concept of a a?oenewa?? play festival that instead honors plays in the classic theatre canon. The genre-defining thriller - based on Frederick Knott's stage and screen play, made world-famous by Hitchcock's iconic 1954 film is directed by Anthony Banks. Samantha Womack takes over the role of Margot from Sally Bretton from the 14th April, in Milton Keynes where she tours with the company to Birmingham, Cardiff, Leicester, Sheffield, Liverpool, Mold, Brighton, Shrewsbury and Salford. Her run concludes in Northampton on June 27th.
