The Rose Theatre Kingston's new season includes many great productions!

The Abu Dhabi Festival, one of the United Arab Emirates' premier arts events, has opened its ninth edition, bringing to the Gulf its largest and most ambitious programme to date, featuring celebrated international artists in new commissions and Arab World Premieres.

From Thursday, March 15 to Tuesday, March 27, BAMcinématek presents Terence Davies, a retrospective of the British auteur, from his three black-and-white shorts released as The Terence Davies Trilogy (1983), to a sneak preview of his newest film, The Deep Blue Sea (2011) starring Rachel Weisz.

Rose Theatre Kingston has announced its' Spring 2012 season. Joely Richardson makes a welcome return to the London stage for the major revival of Ibsen's The Lady from the Sea, in a new translation by Stephen Unwin.

Highlights of the forthcoming productions at the National Theatre, announced today by Nicholas Hytner, include new plays by Alan Bennett, Stephen Beresford, Lisa D'Amour, James Graham and Lucy Prebble. There will be adaptations of Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Simon Stephens, and of The Count of Monte Cristo by Richard Bean. Enda Walsh's Misterman receives its London premiere; classic revivals include Polly Findlay's production of Sophocles' Antigone, Shakespeare's Timon of Athens directed by Nicholas Hytner, Bijan Sheibani's staging of Damned for Despair by Tirso de Molina, and Nadia Fall's production of Bernard Shaw's The Doctor's Dilemma.

La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts will present the third High Definition screening of this season's National Theatre Live series, by presenting COLLABORATORS, written by John Hodge and directed by National Theatre's Nicholas Hytner on FRIDAY, JANUARY 13 at 8pm at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd. in La Mirada.

People.com reports that Queen Elizabeth will have a private screening of the upcoming film MY WEEK WITH MARILYN. The screening will take place at Buckingham Palace. The film takes place in the summer of 1956, when actress Marilyn Monroe, played in the film by Michelle Williams, was making a the movie The Prince and the Show Girl in the United Kingdom. It was during this brief period that the actress met with the Queen. Sources tell People.com that the monarch is curious to see how the meeting is depicted on the big screen.
