Theatrical Outfit Names New Associate Artistic Director

?Theatrical Outfit announces the promotion of Clifton Guterman to Associate Artistic Director. Formerly The Outfit's Casting Director, Executive Associate and Artistic Associate, Guterman will continue his work in casting and literary management and will also serve as a community engagement liaison to connect the company's programming to greater Atlanta and beyond. After splitting his time between Theatrical Outfit and Atlanta's Actor's Express, where he is National New Play Network Producer in Residence, this season, Clifton will return to The Outfit in a full time capacity beginning July 1.
8th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards Are Announced!

ArtsBridge Foundation, the arts education outreach arm of the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, today announced the nominees for the 8th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards in a live streaming broadcast on GPB.org. Tony Award-winner and Marietta-native Shuler Hensley joined GPB Sports Anchor Jackie Brittan to announce the nominations. 28 public and private schools from throughout the state were nominated in 17 categories. The awards, which showcase the next generation of Georgia's musical theatre talent, will be presented at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on April 21. GPB will air the show live on its nine-station statewide television network.

Today in 2002, Oklahoma! opened at the Gershwin Theatre, where it ran for 388 performances. Oklahoma! is the first musical written by the team of composer Richard Rodgers and librettist Oscar Hammerstein II. The musical is based on Lynn Riggs' 1931 play, Green Grow the Lilacs. Set in Oklahoma Territory outside the town of Claremore in 1906, it tells the story of cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with farm girl Laurey Williams. The original Broadway production opened on March 31, 1943. The 2002 revival featured Josefina Gabrielle as Laurey, Shuler Hensley as Jud, Patrick Wilson as Curly and Andrea Martin as Aunt Eller.
Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards Ensemble and STAR Council Announced

ArtsBridge Foundation, the arts education outreach arm of the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, today announced the 96 actors and actresses who will perform in the Shuler Student Ensemble at the 2016 Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards. Additionally, the organization revealed the 32 members of its 2016 S.T.A.R (Students Take A Role) Council who will serve as production assistants for the April 21 awards show that celebrates excellence in high school musical theater.

42nd Street Moon concludes its 23rd season with Frank Loesser's glorious Napa Valley romance, the Tony Award-winning THE MOST HAPPY FELLA. This masterpiece with book, music and lyrics by Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business …, Where's Charley?) is an unconventional and sweepingly romantic love story set in the vineyards of Napa Valley. Considered one of Loesser's greatest works, the stunning score includes "The Most Happy Fella," "Standing on the Corner," "Joey, Joey, Joey," "Rosabella," "Big D," "My Heart Is So Full of You" and "Song of a Summer Night." PRINCE OF BROADWAY Starts Final Week in Japan; Is Broadway Next?

Japan can't get enough of PRINCE OF BROADWAY (see video below), and that's too bad, because there are just five performances left at Osaka's Umeda Arts Theatre. On opening night, after a solid ten minutes of applause after the final curtain, Prince and the rest of the creative team went out one more time. Despite the show's success overseas, an official announcement has not yet been made regrading a run on Broadway... but that hasn't kept us from wondering. So what's next for PRINCE? We're keeping our appendages crossed for an announcement soon and we'll keep you posted with updates!

Billed as 'a new musical', the world premiere of Prince of Broadway at Tokyu Theatre Orb in Tokyo salutes legendary Broadway producer/director, Harold Prince. Co-directed by Prince himself and Susan Stroman (who also choreographs), the evening celebrates an illustrious career spanning over six decades from the 1950s up to the present day, during which time Hal Prince has produced and/or directed more than 30 Broadway shows, winning a record 21 Tony Awards along the way.
