This winter, Diana Amsterdam's Carnival Round the Central Figure brings the macabre back to New York City.

Two veteran Los Angeles companies, Ensemble Studio Theatre-LA and Circle X Theatre Co., have banded together to develop a new performing arts center at the Atwater Village Theatre and will offer a joint season in 2011.

Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) is proud to announce that Atlantic Theater Company members Larry Bryggman and Matt McGrath and guest artists Lisa Emery, Rebecca Henderson and Darren Pettie will star in its first main stage production of the 2010-2011 season, THE COLLECTION & A KIND OF ALASKA: TWO PLAYS BY HAROLD PINTER, directed by Atlantic founding member Karen Kohlhaas.

In a staging by Karen Kohlhaas reminiscent of the carnal exorbitance of carnivale's heyday, featuring a cast of characters pulled straight from the murky depths of the human psyche. Carnival is a hilarious, bizarre, and poignant story of the meaning of death, of dying with dignity, and the ancient dilemma of living for a life after death. Presented by IRT Theater (Kori Rushton, Artistic Director).

A stage without Cissy Conner is like a day without sunshine. Her presence alone, never mind her enormous talent, lights up a room with laughter. On Sunday October 24, Conner made a rare appearance @ Sterling's Upstairs @ Vitello's with her cabaret act Cissy Conner Farewell Tour, which, hopefully, will turn into at least a semi-annual event. The lady sings, does hilarious impressions and is just plain and simple a funny, funny girl.

Beowulf Alley Theatre's Late Night Theatre presents An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein, by the author, to be performed at the theatre at 11 South 6th Avenue. Performances are at 8:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, November 12, 13, 19 and 20, 2010. Tickets are $8 at the door, cash only, with no advance reservations.
