The Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre has announced the cast and creative team of its 75th season finale production - Noir. This world premiere musical is directed by Tony Award winner Darko Tresnjak and runs June 2 – July 3, 2022 in the Hubbard Theatre.

Abingdon Theatre Company has released opening night images of their Off-Broadway production of Queens Girl in the World. The one woman play, written by Caleen Sinette Jennings, stars Felicia Curry as protagonist, Jacqueline Marie Butler.

The Muny announced today that Jeanna de Waal, Corbin Bleu, Andréa Burns, Nehal Joshi, and Darlesia Cearcy will star in the high-flying production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins, July 5-13, 2022. A family favorite, Muny-goers will witness Mary flying over the audience. Mary Poppins is directed by John Tartaglia, choreographed by Patrick O’Neill, with music direction by Brad Haak. Mary Poppins is proudly sponsored by Ameren.

The Public Theater will begin performances for the New York premiere of THE VAGRANT TRILOGY on Friday, April 8 with a Joseph Papp Free Performance, after the cancellation of the 2020 production just five days before the first performance and a two-year postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Theatre Washington, the service organization for Washington, DC-area theatres, and Limelight Insights by Shugoll, a national marketing research company headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, conducted an online survey about whether regional theatre-goers want the current mask and vaccination requirements in theatres to end on April 30, 2022 or subsequent months.

On April 9 (7pm), join Tony Award Nominee Josh Young and his wife, Broadway Star Emily Padgett at the Green Room 42, as they celebrate the decade that gave us Les Miserables, Phantom of The Opera and Cats - the decade where Stephen Sondheim and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber reached the pinnacle of their creative mastery: the 1980’s.

Theatre Washington, the service organization for Washington, DC-area theatres, and Limelight Insights by Shugoll, a national marketing research company headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, conducted an online survey about whether regional theatre-goers want the current mask and vaccination requirements in theatres to end on April 30, 2022. The study is based on 2,128 responses from DC area theatre-goers from March 14-March 17. Despite indoor mask and vaccination mandates terminating in many local jurisdictions, significantly more audience members respond negatively than positively about ending these requirements in theatres. Based on the survey results and in consultation with partner theatres, Theatre Washington has extended the Unified Mask and Vaccination Policy to April 30, 2022, and will be reviewing it further through the launch of the new season in August/September.

The one woman play, written by Caleen Sinette Jennings, will star Felicia Curry as protagonist, Jacqueline Marie Butler. Curry originated the role in the third installment of the trilogy, Queens Girl: Black in the Green Mountains, at the Everyman Theatre in Baltimore, MD. Queens Girl in the World marks Abingdon’s return to the main stage.

Audible Inc. has announced An Evening with Amber Iman, the next live event from Audible Theater, running for three nights only from Thursday, April 21 to Saturday, April 23. An Evening with Amber Iman will be recorded live from the Minetta Lane Theatre and released to a global audience as an Audible Original.

The Merchant of Venice is traditionally categorized as a comedy, but the character of Shylock anchors one of Shakespeare’s most maddening tragic arcs. Here, Shylock is played by the magnificent John Douglas Thompson, whose powerful interpretations of the character's frank yet contorted appeals for justice make this production unmissable.

Producing Artistic Director Kristen van Ginhoven, Managing Director Molly Merrihew, and the WAM Board have announced the appointment of four new members to their Board of Directors. Donna Haghighat, Megan Sandberg-Zakian, Kim Stauffer, and Nicole M. Young-Martin will be joining Board President Wendy Healey, and members Erica Barretto, Toni Buckley, Carolyn Butler, and Margaret Fluhr.
