James Seol Joins Off-Broadway's AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS

Producer Cedric Yau has announced that James Seol will step into the 17 roles originated by Jimmy Ray Bennett in Around the World in 80 Days, beginning Tuesday, September 17th. Bennett's last performance will be Sunday, September 15th­ at 7pm. Guy LeMonnier heads the cast as the phlegmatic Phileas Fogg, with Shirine Babb, Matt Lutz, and Gary Littman rounding out the ensemble cast. Rachel Klein directs.

Wayne Duvall & More Join Christine Lahti in Signature's PRIDE IN THE FALLS OF AUTREY MILL; Full Cast Announced

Signature Theatre has announced the full cast of this fall's world-premiere production of Pride in the Falls of Autrey Mill, written by Really Really playwright Paul Downs Colaizzo. For the fifth year in a row Horse Trade Theater Group will present The Fire This Time Festival (TFTT), providing a platform for talented early-career playwrights of African and African-American descent to explore new voices, styles, and challenging new directions for 21st century performing arts in order to move beyond common misconceptions of what's possible in 'black theater.'

Shakespeare Theatre Presents MEASURE FOR MEASURE, Now thru 10/27

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award, presents a world in moral free fall with director Jonathan Munby's evocative vision of William Shakespeare's play, Measure for Measure. Munby's production, which places Shakespeare's story in a Fascist, late 1930s Europe steeped in cabaret culture, presents the dual nature of humanity as both tragic and comic. Measure for Measure will play at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street NW) from today, September 12-October 27, 2013.

Melis Aker & Khris Davis to Lead Arena Stage's LOVE IN AFGHANISTAN World Premiere; Full Cast Announced

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for Charles Randolph-Wright's world premiere drama Love in Afghanistan. Randolph-Wright, a Resident Playwright through Arena Stage's American Voices New Play Institute and director of Motown the Musical currently on Broadway, joins forces with director Lucie Tiberghien (MCC Theater's Don't Go Gentle) to bring to life the tale of two fantastically different people discovering love in the most unlikely of places: war-torn Afghanistan. One, an emerging hip-hop artist, the other, a high-level Afghan interpreter, both fight to navigate the pitfalls of romance, religious differences and political unrest. Love in Afghanistan runs October 11-November 17, 2013 in the Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle.

American Stage to Open 2013-14 Season with THE BIRDS, 10/2-27

American Stage Theatre Company is excited to announce their 2013-2014 season opening production, THE BIRDS by the acclaimed Irish Playwright Conor McPherson (The Seafarer). Previews are October 2 & 3. Opening Night is October 4 and the production runs through October 27.

Christine Lahti to Lead Signature Theatre's PRIDE IN THE FALLS OF AUTREY MILL; Limited Engagement Set for 10/15-12/8

Signature Theatre is pleased to announce the casting of award winner Christine Lahti (Running on Empty, Swing Shift,Chicago Hope) in this fall's world-premiere drama Pride in the Falls of Autrey Mill, written by Paul Downs Colaizzo (Really Really). Lahti, whose acclaimed 30-year career in theatre, television and film places her in the highest echelon of American actresses, joins this fall's production under the direction of Shakespeare Theatre Company Artistic Director Michael Kahn, who returns to Signature for the first time in nearly twenty years. Casting for the remaining three roles will be announced shortly.

Shakespeare Theatre Company Presents POTTED POTTER Tonight

The Shakespeare Theatre Company, recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award, is pleased to announce that Potted Potter, a seventy minute production featuring all seven Harry Potter books, will play in the Company's Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) this fall. The production will run from tonight, September 5 - 15, 2013 and tickets are now on sale for the public.

Tracy Olivera, Jenna Sokolowski & More Set for SEPARATE ROOMS Reading at Kennedy Center's Page-To-Stage Festival, 9/2

On Labor Day, September 2 at 7:30pm, the 12th Annual Kennedy Center Page-To-Stage Festival will host force/collision for a reading of Joe Calarco's new play Separate Rooms. The cast includes Tracy Olivera (Broadway's Ragtime, Ford's Theatre's Hello, Dolly!),Jenna Sokolowski (Woolly Mammoth's Mr. Burns, a post-electric play and Signature's Title of show), Thomas Keegan (Signature's Dying City),Vanessa Lock (Signature's God of Carnage), Tonya Beckman Ross (Shakespeare Theatre Company's Lady Windermere's Fan), Chris Stezin(Theatre J's The Religion Thing), Matthew Wilson (Faction of Fools), Joseph Carlson (Synetic's Home of the Solider) and Harlan Work(Theatre J's Our Class). The reading will be directed by force/collision Founding Director John Moletress and be followed by a talkback with playwright Joe Calarco, cast and director.

Shakespeare Theatre Stages 'Free For All' MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, Now thru 9/1

The Shakespeare Theatre Company's annual Free For All is a much-loved Washington tradition, offering free Shakespeare performances to the general public for the past 22 years. This year the beloved tradition launches the Company's 2013-2014 Season by reviving Much Ado About Nothing, initially presented during the 2011-2012 Season with original direction by Ethan McSweeny. Much Ado About Nothing will run at STC's Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from today, August 20-September 1, 2013. Resident Assistant Director Jenny Lord will direct this delightful summer comedy for residents and visitors to D.C.

Harry Groener to Star in Chicago Shakespeare Theater's CYRANO DE BERGERAC; Full Cast Announced!

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today casting for Cyrano de Bergerac, launching the Theater's 2013-2014 Season. CST's new production of Edmond Rostand's timeless classic, adapted and translated by Anthony Burgess, marks the return to CST of director Penny Metropulos and film and stage actor Harry Groener, the duo behind the Theater's award-winning 2011 production of The Madness of George III. Featuring some of the most romantic and witty verse written for the stage, Cyrano de Bergerac is a poignant and entertaining homage to poetry, love and panache which will run in CST's Courtyard Theater September 24 through November 10, 2013.

Elizabeth McGovern to Be Honored with William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre on 10/6

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) has selected Academy Award nominee Elizabeth McGovern as the 2013 recipient of The William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (Will Award). KPMG, LLP will be awarded the Sidney Harman Award for Philanthropy in the Arts. McGovern & KPMG, LLP will be honored at the Harman Center for the Arts Annual Gala, hosted by STC at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW), on Sunday, October 6, 2013.

Meet Matt Baxter Luceno, ELTC's Ichabod Crane in THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW

Playing the role of Ichabod Crane in the award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company's production of the world premiere of 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,' is Matt Baxter Luceno. His first appearance with ELTC was playing Rodney Martin in the comedy 'It Pays to Advertise' last fall, and now he's back as the music and school teacher from Connecticut who lands a job in superstitious Tarrytown, New York.
