Shakespeare Theatre Company Victorious in Fight to Stay in Lansburgh Theatre

The D.C. Superior Court ruled today in favor of the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award. In an order signed by the court today, the court enjoined all defendants-Boston based developer Graham Gund and a group of entities and people affiliated with him-from taking any action to interfere with Shakespeare Theatre Company's occupancy of the Lansburgh Theatre, the home of STC for 20 years.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company, recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award®, kicks off its holiday season with William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Director Ethan McSweeny (Much Ado About Nothing, The Merchant of Venice) takes a fresh approach to this well-loved play filled with magic and wonder. The Shakespeare Theatre Company kick-starts the new year with the return of FELA! After a sold-out run in 2011, the hit Broadway musical returns to STC's Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) from January 29 - February 10, 2013. Presented by Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, and Ruth and Stephen Hendel, FELA! is directed and choreographed by Tony Award® winner Bill T. Jones. Adesola Osakalumi will star as Kuti alongside a cast combining the toast of Broadway and members of the American and European casts.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company welcomes the Theatre de l'Atelier's production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, directed by John Malkovich, to Washington, D.C. The Guthrie Theater presents Yale Repertory Theatre's production of The Servant of Two Masters. Adapted by Constance Congdon from a translation of Carlo Goldoni by Christina Sibul, this comedy features Steven Epp (Guthrie: A Christmas Carol, The Caretaker; Theatre de la Jeune Lune: actor, writer, director, co-artistic director 1983-2008) as the wily servant Truffaldino and Guthrie favorite Sarah Agnew (Guthrie: Time Stands Still, The 39 Steps; Theatre de la Jeune Lune company member 1995-2001) as the strong-willed Beatrice in the story of a servant scheming to fill his pockets and his stomach by serving two masters at once.

Anime Momotaro is a staging of a famous Japanese folktale that teaches powerful lessons about inner strength and the ability to stand up against bullying. Created and premiered by the Honolulu Theatre for Youth, Imagination Stage is bringing Eric Johnson (adaptor/director) and Alvin Chan (adaptor/choreographer) from Hawaii to develop an expanded version for Imagination Stage audiences.

CINDERELLA Celebrates 29th Anniversary and 300th Performance at Raleigh Little Theatre, 12/13

Cinderella and her colorful friends return to Raleigh Little Theatre (RLT) this holiday season, once again bringing to life this timeless tale and delighting families from across the region. This year marks both the 29th anniversary and the 300th performance of this production, which was first performed on December 13, 1984. Cinderella will perform on the Sutton Main Stage at RLT from Dec. 6-16, 2012.
