Shakespeare's Globe has announced the cast and company for a new production of The Tempest running this summer from 22 July - 22 October, directed by Sean Holmes. The Theatre Group at SBCC is excited to announce the first show of the 2022-23 season will be the exuberant musical, SOMETHING ROTTEN! Book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, Music and Lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick, Conceived by Karey Kirkpatrick and Wayne Kirkpatrick.  SOMETHING ROTTEN! will run July 6-23, 2022 in the Garvin Theatre and will be directed by Katie Laris, musical direction by David Potter and choreography by Christina McCarthy.

Directed by the incomparable Lina Koutrakos, Stone began with a medley combining works by Coleman, Schmidt, Leosser, and Sondheim, and mixing them in her bright, pointed tone that automatically gives a level of dramatic tension to the work.

The joy that this production seeks to impart upon the audience is palpable, and understandably necessary after the past two years. The process of watching a hero come to life on stage is an undeniably entertaining one, and HOOD's well-intentioned themes have potential to inspire as this new musical continues to mature and develop.

Schuyler's Afrofuturist novel set during the Harlem Renaissance, retelling one Black man's journey colliding with truths of race and identity.
