Michele and Criss kicked off the second leg of their tour this week. This weekend they play both the Durham Performing Arts Center and Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte.
A youthful energy erupted when Michele and Criss took the stage at DPAC Friday night. They opened the show with "Broadway Baby," followed by two more Broadway popular showtune duets, "Suddenly, Seymour" and "Falling Slowly."
Michele opened her solo set with "Cannonball" and "Battlefield" two songs from her first album "Louder." She continued singing fan favorites from "Glee" and paid homage to Lady Gaga and Pink, but it was "Don't Rain on My Parade," a song most recognizably sung by Barbra Streisand, that brought the audience to a standing ovation.

The cast is announced today for the European premiere of Jordan Seavey's Homos, or Everyone in America at the Finborough Theatre. On Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 8:00pm, Spectrum presents contemporary Chinese-American pianist Jenny Q Chai in Sonorous Brushes, a new multi-sensory program employing Chai's unique form of synesthesia. The program explores repertoire that lives at the intersection of color and sound, exploring this meeting of the senses through important works of the colorful Impressionistic era paired with new works created using Artificial Intelligence technology. In order to fully realize this concept, Chai completed a six-month residency at Cite des Arts in Paris, where she worked simultaneously on the musical performance and the paintings associated with each score. Sonorous Brushes was designed and premiered at Wigmore Hall in London on June 26, 2018.

Today's subject, Eva Noblezada, made a huge splash in the West End a few years back in the revival of Miss Saigon, playing the coveted role of Kim. This was after being discovered at the Jimmy Awards, which recognizes excellence in high school theatre across the United States. Eva then went into Les Miserables on the West End before reprising Kim in Miss Saigon on Broadway. That performance garnered her a well-deserved Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical.
