The highly acclaimed new Australian musical produced by Carmen Pavlovic, CEO of Global Creatures, Muriel's Wedding The Musical, commences in Melbourne in March at Her Majesty's Theatre with previews from March 12 and opening night on March 23.  The Sydney season at the Sydney Lyric Theatre commences with previews from June 28 and opening night July 4.  

After a sold-out run, Follies returns to the NT in 2019. Stephen Sondheim's legendary musical includes such classic songs as 'Broadway Baby', 'I'm Still Here' and 'Losing My Mind'. Featuring a cast of 40 and an orchestra of 21, Follies is directed by Dominic Cooke. Tracie Bennett, Janie Dee and Peter Forbes return to reprise their roles, with Alexander Hanson and Joanna Riding joining the cast as Ben and Sally.

Do not miss the upcoming show at The Belmont Theatre that will take you back to those 60's Sci-Fi B-movies with the musical comedy LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Don't let the word horror mislead you…there's no zombies, vampires or monsters- The show will be produced on the mainstage February 15-17 & 21-24. Friday, Saturday and the second Thursday shows are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday shows are at 3:00 p.m.

In this feature, I break down the nine shows of 2019 that I will definitely be getting tickets to see. From farcical comedies, to emotionally intense straight plays, to soul-awakening musicals--you've got a ton of styles and genres to choose from, so go out there and get your tickets before they're gone!

Following an exhilarating 2018-19 season, Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier theatre company, announced the productions that will comprise its 2019-20 season. Highlights include the hilarious maritime musical, ANYTHING GOES; the satirical farce, IT'S ONLY A PLAY; the Tony Award-winning musical, NEWSIES; the Broadway sci-fi cult musical, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS; the sidesplitting play, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR; and the critically-acclaimed musical, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. Hillbarn Theatre closes its season with the world premiere play THE FOUR GIFTS, based on the memoir of San Mateo local Fr. Joseph Bradley. All performances will be held at Hillbarn Theatre, (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd. Foster City). Subscriptions ($210 - $336) are on sale now at hillbarntheatre.org or by calling 650.349.6411. The classic story of Little Shop of Horrors takes place inside the rundown Mushnik's Flower Shop on the fictional Skid Row in New York City. In this production, the show will be completely immersed in the quaint and fragrant Bool's Flower Shop in Ithaca, New York. Bool's Flower Shop has been providing the Ithaca area with their services since 1894. They offer a variety of products and services, from a small vase of flowers to large weddings or events. It has been named "Ithaca's Best Flower Shop" by several local journalists. This year marks the shop's 125th anniversary.

Husband and wife duo Ida Mae (Chris Turpin and Stephanie Jean), have shared their new single 'If You Don't Love Me', produced by Ethan Johns and released via Thirty Tigers today. Starting off simply with Chris' sweet vocals accompanied on guitar, the song gradually builds into a crescendo of pure bliss. Stephanie's vocals beautifully weave over the top of Chris' falsetto resulting in a balanced, elegant sound. Ida Mae will be joining Blackberry Smoke on their Break It Down tour this spring. The Public Theater will begin previews for the New York premiere of SEA WALL / A LIFE with a Joseph Papp Free Preview performance on Friday, February 1. Written by Simon Stephens and Nick Payne respectively, and directed by Carrie Cracknell, SEA WALL / A LIFE will run through Sunday, March 31 in The Public's Newman Theater with an official press opening on Thursday, February 14. SEA WALL / A LIFE features Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Sturridge in their Public Theater debuts.

Portland favorite Nick Cearley returns to The Armory to reprise his role as a fictional shop-boy in Barbra Streisand's real-life shopping mall in Jonathan Tolins' hilarious comedy Buyer & Cellar. Cearley (Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors) has performed the play across the country, playing Alex More - the out of work actor who says yes to a mysterious job and ends up in the basement of a legend - along with the rotating cast of characters who fill Alex's life, including Barbra Streisand.

Today, influencer and talent manager ChiChi Anyanwu of the NYC Black Theater Network, Marcia Pendelton, President of Walk Tall Girl Productions/Black Theater Online, and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (Kevin Young, Director, Schomburg Center) announced BLACK PLAYWRIGHTS: THEY SPEAK. WHO LISTENS? A Black Theater Winter Preview: Broadway and Off-Broadway Edition. The event is scheduled at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (515 Malcolm X Blvd) on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. Four-time Tony Award-winning producer Ron Simons of SimonSays Entertainment (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, Porgy & Bess, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Jitney) will host the program whose purpose is to bring attention to the unprecedented number of plays by black playwrights being produced on Broadway and Off-Broadway this season.

True West is currently being revived by the Roundabout Theatre Company, starring Ethan Hawke and Paul Dano. The pair have joined a list of many famous duos who have taken on the roles of Lee and Austin in Sam Shepard's play.

Primitive Grace Theater Ensemble will present the World Premiere of MASTER OF THE CROSSROADS written and directed by Obie Award winner and SAG Award nominee Paul Calderon (The Bad Lieutenant, Boardwalk Empire). Previews begin January 16th at The Bridge Theater. Opening is slated for Today, January 23rd.

Fraser Entertainment Group's An Evening of Classic Broadway, a recent nominee for BWW.com's Los Angeles Regional Award for Best Special Theatre Event, makes a return engagement at Rockwell Table and Stage in Los Angeles. The show tune songfest will take place on Tuesday, January 29th at 8PM (doors open at 6:30).

The Tak cs Quartet returns to Segerstrom Center for the Arts on February 28, 2019 at 8:00pm. The ensemble, considered to be one of the world's greatest string quartets, welcomed second violinist Harumi Rhodes earlier this year following the retirement of founding member K roly Schranz. Quartet members include Edward Dusinberre and Harumi Rhodes, violins; Geraldine Walther, viola; and Andr s Fej r, cello.

Co-Producers Tom Vitorino and Alice L. Walker (Thursday Night Theater Club), have signed acclaimed director/actor, Robyn Cohen for The Elephant Man by Bernard Pomerance at The El Portal Theatre MainStage.  Both Vitorino and Walker are thrilled to have Robyn Cohen at the helm directing their cast of twelve. This will be her second time to direct with Thursday Night Theater Club.
