LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS to Come to York's Belmont Theatre

Do not miss the upcoming show at The Belmont Theatre that will take you back to those 60's Sci-Fi B-movies with the musical comedy LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Don't let the word horror mislead you...there's no zombies, vampires or monsters- The show will be produced on the mainstage February 15-17 & 21-24. Friday, Saturday and the second Thursday shows are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday shows are at 3:00 p.m.

The upbeat music is reminiscent of those doo-wopping 60's that will have you bopping in the aisles with tongue in cheek humor that made this show an international success and one of the most popular shows in the world. A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop Of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind this show featuring musical numbers such as Feed Me, Suddenly Seymour, the title song, Little Shop of Horrors, and more. Menken and Ashman's musical was based on the low-budget 1960 film The Little Shop of Horrors. Another movie, based on the musical and starring Rick Moranis as Seymour, was released in 1986.

The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names "Audrey II" - after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore plant promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it... BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out of this world origins and intent towards global domination! The show will feature innovative staging with a revolving platform, multiple levels, and 4 different sizes of puppets that will be maneuvered to become the character of the man-eating plant growing to full size to take over the world!

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is directed by The Belmont Theatre's Artistic Director Rene Staub. Vocal Director and the conductor of the LIVE Orchestra is Michael McGuiness. Choreographer is Sarah Flynn. The cast features Matthew Walsh as Seymour Krelborn, Lindy Keefe as Audrey, Robert Eisenhour as Mr. Mushnik, Wesley Hemmann as the sadistic Dentist Orin Scrivello, Ashley Dzurzynski, Nicole Dzurzynski and Julia Howey as the doo-wopping trio of urchins, and Ben Eisenhour as the voice of the man-eating plant, Audrey II.
