And now the Seattle Rep has commissioned a play on the topic from rising star playwright Samuel D Hunter with his "A Great Wilderness". I got to sit down and discuss the show with Hunter as well as director Braden Abraham to get their in depth look at this upcoming work.

The University of the Arts has appointed Joanna Settle as the new director of the Ira Brind School of Theater Arts. Settle, a freelance theater director and educator, will begin her tenure at the university on January 13, 2014.
On Saturday, December 7, TheatreWorks opened the Broadway musical 'Little Women' to an enthusiastic, sold-out crowd in Palo Alto, CA. Priestley's 1938 farcical comedy, set in 1908, is about three couples who married on the same day in the same church, who learn on their twenty-fifth anniversaries that they aren't legally married at all, sending them into a tizzy of spousal re-evaluation. The play is full of funny lines, and is a first-rate screwball comedy - but this hilarious Yorkshire farce has more going on in it than this premise would indicate, because, after all, this is a play by J. B. Priestley!

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) congratulates this year's recipients of the Emery Battis Acting Award, Patrick Page and Diane D'Aquila. Since 2010, STC has recognized two actors per season who have demonstrated exceptional skill and technique on the stage. Page and D'Aquila were praised for their incredible performances as the title role in Coriolanus and dual appearances as Volumnia in Coriolanus and the Countess in Wallenstein, respectively. The award was presented December 3, 2013 at the opening night dinner for STC's current mainstage production, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, hosted by the Board of Trustees.
