American Stage Theatre to Present MY NAME IS ASHER LEV, 7/17-8/25

American Stage Theatre Company announces the second play of our 2012-2013 Summer Series on our Mainstage: MY NAME IS ASHER LEV a new play by Aaron Posner, adapted from the best-selling novel by Chaim Potok. This production is an area premiere and winner of the 2013 Outer Critics Circle Award for 'Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play'. Previews July 17 & 18. Opening Night is July 19 and the production runs through August 25.

Khalil Kain to Make Stage Directing Debut in BURIED CHILD at Aaron Davis Hall, 7/11-8/3

Actor Khalil Kain, who is known for edgy character roles on film and for the TV series 'Girlfriends,' will make his stage directing debut with Sam Shepard's 'Buried Child,' to be presented by Aaron Davis Hall as an Equity LORT/LOA production from July 11 to August 3. The production uses a multi-racial cast to reinterpret the underlying symbols of Shepard's landmark play, in which the misfortunes of a Midwestern farming family reveal both the demise and endurance of the American Dream.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's enormously popular annual summer venue for family theatre under-the-stars will transform into the Forest of Arden when the Theatre presents its Outdoor Stage production of William Shakespeare's comedy As You Like It at the amphitheatre on the campus of the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morris Township. This replica of an ancient Greek theatre nestled into the hillside of the bucolic campus offers a theatrical event unique on the East Coast. C.S. Lewis' THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS Returns to Walnut Creek, Now thru 6/23

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS, the provocative and wickedly funny theatrical adaptation of the C.S. Lewis novel about spiritual warfare from a demon's point of view, will return to Walnut Creek after playing to capacity audiences in October 2009. The limited engagement will run at the Hoffmann Theatre, Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive in Walnut Creek, tonight, June 21 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, June 22 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, June 23 at 3 p.m.

Berkshire Playwrights Lab will present its first full workshop production, Anna Ziegler's Life Science directed by Joe Cacaci, today, June 19 through June 30 (press opening June 21) at Bard College at Simon's Rock Daniel Arts Center (84 Alford Road, Great Barrington, Mass.). The production will run Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm, with the exception of the Saturday, June 22 performance, which will begin at 9:30pm.

Lincoln Center Theater has announced four productions to be produced in the Vivian Beaumont and Mitzi E. Newhouse Theaters during the 2013-2014 season: the world premiere ofDomesticated, a new play by Bruce Norris, featuring Laurie Metcalf, directed by Anna D. Shapiro beginning performances Thursday, October 10 in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater; a new production of Shakespeare's Macbeth, featuring Ethan Hawke in the title role, directed by Jack O'Brien, beginning performances Thursday, October 24 in the Vivian Beaumont Theater; Act One, adapted and directed by James Lapine from the autobiography by Moss Hart, beginning performances Thursday, March 20 in the Beaumont; and the world premiere of The City of Conversation, a new play by Anthony Giardina, directed by Doug Hughes, beginning performances Thursday, April 10 in the Newhouse. In addition to these four productions, LCT3, Lincoln Center Theater's initiative to produce the work of new artists and to engage new audiences, will produce a season of three plays, to be announced, in the Claire Tow Theater.
