Theater for the New City, the community cultural center that produces over thirty premieres of new American plays each year, is pleased to announce the return of acclaimed playwright Eduardo Machado with the world premiere of his new play Worship, directed by Michael Domitrovich. Worship will begin previews Today, March 15th at 8 PM, with Opening Night set for Today, March 22nd at 8PM at Theater for the New City (155 First Avenue, between 9th and 10th Streets). The 2014 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity Gala 'One Acts for a Cause' is set to take place on Sunday, June 22 at 7:30pm at the East 13th Street Theater (136 East 13th Street). The Smith Center for the Performing Arts has now added a third and final week of performances for the world premiere of THE TEMPEST, which will now play April 6-27, with special preview performances April 1-4. The opening night celebration will take place on Saturday, April 5. Produced in association with the American Reparatory Theater (A.R.T.), THE TEMPEST is adapted and directed by Aaron Posner and Teller from the play by William Shakespeare, with magic by Teller, music by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan and movement by Matt Kent of Pilobolus.
