Balagan Brings ERNEST SHACKLETON LOVES ME Workshop to ACT Theatre Tonight

By:

Due to unavoidable circumstances, Nirvanov has been replaced in Balagan Theatre's season. Fortunately, it is being replaced with another exciting show - something Balagan has been working on for over a year and finally get to bring your way.

This April, at the Seattle Repertory Theater, Balagan presents, in association with ACT Theatre and Seattle Repertory Theater, the world premiere of Ernest Shackleton Loves Me, an off-Broadway bound new musical starring Valerie Vigoda (GrooveLily, Striking 12) and Wade McCollum (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Jersey Boys).

Kat (Vigoda) is a present-day, sleep-deprived single mom who has just been fired from her day job as a video game composer when the historic, legendary gentleman-explorer, Ernest Shackleton (McCollum), makes contact with Kat through her video blog. Inspired by her music, Kat and Shackleton embark together on his Antarctic quest, conquering new horizons and creating a cross-time love affair for the ages.

This show comes from a truly remarkable team, including book by Joe DiPietro (Memphis; Nice Work if You Can Get It; I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; Toxic Avenger), Music and Lyrics by Valerie Vigoda & Brendan Milburn (Toy Story: The Musical; Sleeping Beauty Wakes; Striking 12) and is directed by Obie award winner Lisa Peterson.

Workshop performances are being held today, Feb. 2 through the 4th at ACT Theatre and the full production will be mounted in April 18-May 4 on the Leo K stage at Seattle Repertory Theatre.Thursdays - Sundays, the shows are at 7:30 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays the shows are at 2:00 pm & 7:30 pm The show is recommeded for ages 14 and older for sexual references, strong language, and adult themes. Tickets are available at (206) 443-2222 or seattlerep.org.
