Tickets for Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at Penobscot Theatre Go On Sale 10/2

Previously available to subscribers only, tickets to Penobscot Theatre Company's highly anticipated holiday production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, will go on sale to the general public, October 2. A Fabulous Start to Penobscot Theatre Company's 44th Season Announced

Penobscot Theatre Company kicks off its 2017-2018 Season with the Maine premiere of an a cappella play with music both traditional and timely. The Fabulous Lipitones tells the story of a contemporary barbershop quartet that loses its tenor to a strenuously high B-flat before a major national competition. A scramble ensues to find a suitable replacement, and the best candidate takes everyone by surprise. The production runs from September 7-24, beginning with two discounted previews on September 7-8. All performances will take place at the newly refurbished Bangor Opera House, 131 Main Street, Bangor.  

LUMBERJACKS IN LOVE Offers Romance in the Rough for February

Penobscot Theatre Company is making the most of the shortest month of the year, preparing a musical comedy that is long on laughs. Lumberjacks in Love, a Maine premiere, will open in previews February 2 and run through February 19, with 15 performances at the Bangor Opera House including a specially scheduled show for Valentines Day. With book and lyrics by Fred Alley and music by James Kaplan, the creative team behind the theatre's 2014 hit Guys on Ice, Lumberjacks is the perfect antidote for the winter doldrums.

On Monday, October 3, Penobscot Theatre Company will make tickets toOliver!, its much anticipated holiday show, available to the general public. The musical by Lionel Bart will run December 1-24 at the Bangor Opera House in downtown Bangor. Previously offered at a discount to subscribers alone, the tickets will be open for purchase through the box office or the theatre's website, regularly priced at $38 for adults and $15 for students. General adult admission to the preview performances December 1 and 2 will be $25 and $27 respectively.

CALENDAR GIRLS Set to Usher in Penobscot Theatre Company's 43rd Season

Penobscot Theatre Company is excited to kick-off its 2016-2017 Season with the Maine professional premiere of Calendar Girls, a comedy that has delighted audiences on both sides of the pond. With a script by Tim Firth, who co-wrote the Miramax film of the same name, Calendar Girls tells the true story of a women's social club in England that attracted worldwide attention by posing au naturel (though cleverly masked) for a worthy cause. Fourteen performances are scheduled, September 8-25, at the Bangor Opera House.

Penobscot Theatre Company to Present Jason Robert Brown's THE LAST FIVE YEARS

Two of the region's biggest stars will shine in Penobscot Theatre Company's upcoming production of The Last Five Years. Dominick Varney and Brianne Beck will play Jamie and Cathy, two talented, passionate and ambitious young people who come together and fall apart over five pivotal years. He tells their story from the romantic beginning and she from the bitter end, offering alternating perspectives on the passage of love with the passage of time. Written by Jason Robert Brown and directed by Michele Colvin, the production will open in previews at the Bangor Opera House on March 10 and run through March 27.

Penobscot Theatre Company to Hold Maine Premiere of DOCTOR CERBERUS

Penobscot Theatre Company is readying the first of three Maine premieres planned for 2015-2016: Doctor Cerberus, by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the story of an aspiring writer navigating the horrors of high school and the indignity of family life. The first preview is October 22, and the show will run through November 8 with all performances at the Bangor Opera House.

Penobscot Theatre Company Announces Halloween Performance of Roald Dahl's The Witches

Penobscot Theatre Dramatic Academy is thrilled to announce their youth production of The Witches. To celebrate Halloween, literacy, and live performance, Dramatic Academy's Tiny Thespians and Youth Troupe will collaborate to perform this modern classic. Featuring 18 local students, this production will take place on the main stage of The Bangor Opera house with a special opening performance on October 31st at 4 p.m. Audience members are encouraged to come in their Halloween costumes for the 60 minute performance to make sure they are ready to trick or treat after the show! Movement, magic, and mice are combined to create a thrilling play performed by young actors and written for young audiences.
