Penobscot Theatre Company's Dramatic Academy to Stage SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES
Penobscot Theatre Company's Dramatic Academy will stage Ray Bradbury's creepy classic, Something Wicked This Way Comes, August 17-19 at 7 pm and August 20 at 3:00 pm. All four performances will be at Peakes Auditorium at Bangor High School, 885 Broadway, Bangor.
The story follows two boys who visit Cooger & Dark's Pandemonium Shadow Show, a traveling carnival led by the mysterious Mr. Dark. The boys' quest for adventure gets dangerous when they discover the diabolical truth behind the show's smoke and mirrors. Director Ben Layman attributes the popularity of Bradbury's tale, first published in 1962, to the resonance of the theme: "There's light and dark in all of us, and fear is an inevitable part of life. This imaginative story is about the power we have to tame our fears and let our light shine."
The cast includes Kobe Angel, Austin Beaulieu, Lauren Bilancia, Drew Campbell, Drew Campbell, Katherine Caron, Axel Carson, Mei Lan Chen, Viola Davis, Mackie Doore, Dani Fenalson, Eben Francis, Ruby El-Hajj, Anyia Fox, Bekah Friedman, Josie Gilmore, RileyHowe Grenier, Joseph Griffin, Ronan Griffin, Josie Guzman, Will Halloway, Ella Humbert, Ella Jellison, Lucien Jellison, Rowan Jellison, Lucas LaChance, Miranda Larson, Nathan Manaker, Atiana Melanson, Maksimillian Melanson, Sage Neptune, Rachel Palmer, InannaPiccininni, Aaron Raye,Darby Ricker,Nicholas Rhodes, Joey Rutledge, Lizzie Shum, Lillie Sites, Adrian Sockalexis, Diana Voter, Declan Walshe, Nicole Wech, and Alec Allain-Winchester.
Four teens enrolled in the Dramatic Academy's Tech Program--Sophia Bilodeau, Daniel Rutledge, Julia Joseph and Tyler Goodman--contributed to production designs by Tricia Hobbs (scenic), Scout Hough (lighting), Emma Dean (costumes), and Katie Guzzi (sound and props). Director of Education Amy Roeder is assistant director.
