Did you ever wonder what would happen if the traditional Dracula story was made into something so perfectly absurd that it actually turns itself funny? If what is meant to be a frightening tale of the undead becomes a wacky, Barbie doll- infested, cross-dressing adventure that brings the quest to defeat the rather attractive Count Dracula to an entirely new level? Whereas the typically eerie feel of the Dracula tale will cause quite a few goose-bumps, Dracula for Dummys at the Provincetown Theater will bring on a major tingle of excitement because of how freakin' fun it is to be a part of this unique experience.

Vampires have become such an essential part of American culture, even if they are only fictional beings; from one of the first allusion to them in Polidori's The Vampyre to more modern takes on this age-old creature, it is amazing how vampires have become the talk of the town - the town being in movies, the written word and now, in this premiere on Cape Cod. DiVincenzo understands their importance, making reference to the Lugosi's famous film legacy. 'I feel like it's a timeless story. Dracula is an icon. I think it's an indelible mark that 1931 film made in our culture. What we're giving [audiences] now is a much younger approach to the Dracula story.'

The Provincetown Theater is pleased to present Dracula For Dummys, playing October 8 to 31. Strange events unfold as a play within a play within a play. Eight actors scramble to their places as the show must go on!  This odd group of friends band together to save the life of a dear friend and to rid their theater of a blood-sucking vampire. Pick Up Performance Co(s), in collaboration with The Joyce Theater, presents the world premiere of The Beginning of the End of the…, a new movement/theater/music work in two-parts written, directed and choreographed by David Gordon, for an unprecedented four-week engagement at Joyce SoHo from tonight, June 1 through June 30 (155 Mercer Street, between Houston and Prince Streets). The official opening will take place on Wednesday, June 6.

The Vineyard Theatre will host a private memorial service for actor T. Scott Cunningham - a founding member of Drama Dept. and The Vineyard Community of Artists, who died at age 47 due to pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome on June 20 - today (Monday, August 17) at 4:00pm at the Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street).

Actor T. Scott Cunningham, a founding member of Drama Dept. and The Vineyard Community of Artists, died at NYU Medical Center in New York City on Saturday, June 20 from complications due to pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, according to Sam Rudy, a spokesperson for The Vineyard Theatre. Mr. Cunningham was 47 years old.

The show will run from April 20 through May 11, 2008 on the Julianne Argyros Stage. Low-priced previews are available from April 20 through April 24. Opening night is April 25.
