BWW Review: ARCHDUKE at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley is Rajiv Joseph's biting satire on modern terrorism filtered through the lens of 'the shot heard round the world'.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley presents the Northern California premiere of Archduke. Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph, Archduke explores how one man, one moment, can derail an entire century. Focusing on the cataclysmic 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, three hapless insurgents embark on a darkly comic quest for immortality and purpose, unaware that their actions will launch World War I.

Opening on July 6, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival's production of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac at the Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre recalls its delightful retelling in the 1987 movie Roxanne, starring Steve Martin and Daryl Hannah.

This classic exploration of the ominous side of ambition tells the story of a couple bound together in their thirst for the Scottish throne. Driven by an evil prophesy and his scheming wife, Macbeth kills the king and claims his crown, thus beginning a moral descent into a reign of terror.

Capital Stage continues its ninth season, THEHOMEFRONT, Capital Stage's 2013-14 Season of Soul-Stirring plays with an original adaptation of William Shakespeare's dark tragedy, MACBETH.Shakespeare, the father of English literature wrote MACBETH between 1603 and 1607. Since then, the Macbeths have remained one of the most fascinating couples in all of drama. Capital Stage's production will be adapted and directed by artistic director,Stephanie Gularte and will feature Scott Coopwood and Janis Stevens as the murderous couple. MACBETH runs from October 23 through November 24 with a press opening on October 26.

This summer the Marin Shakespeare Company sets its outdoor stage for politics, enchantment, romance and comedy presenting 'King John,' 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and the Bay Area premiere of 'The Liar.' The season begins with previews on July 6 and continues with performances (presented in repertory) through Sept. 30, 2012.
