As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, the Original Broadway Cast Recording of the much anticipated Amelie, A NEW MUSICAL, by a new imprint of the Warner Music Group. The original Broadway cast recording will be released on Friday, May 19, 2017 (online) and Friday, June 9, 2017 (in stores).  To pre-order, click here.

Producers just announced the Original Broadway Cast Recording of the much anticipated AME?LIE, A NEW MUSICAL, by a new imprint of the Warner Music Group. The original Broadway cast recording will be available for pre-order starting Thursday, March 9, 2017, and will be released on Friday, May 19, 2017 (online) and Friday, June 9, 2017 (in stores). Michael Croiter will serve as album executive producer; Daniel Messe? and Gary Maurer will serve as producers; and Nathan Tysen will serve as associate producer. AMELIE, A NEW MUSICAL will begin performances on Broadway on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 W 48th Street) and officially open Monday, April 3, 2017. Producers today announced complete casting for the upcoming Broadway production of AMELIE, A NEW MUSICAL.

Amelie A New Musical, based on the 2001 French film Amelie, has a magical charm that reminds one of Matilda, at least in the beginning scenes. We meet the young Amelie (Savvy Crawford) who enters through a picture frame (see photo at left) and proceeds to tell her story, quite sad in fact, for she is saddled with a heart condition and difficult parents who keep her isolated and unhappy. Her mother meets a tragic, almost freakish demise and Amelie is brought up by her father who lives in a world of his own. As she matures, she realizes her lot in life will be to make other people happy. Now onstage at the Ahmanson Theatre through January 15, Amelie A New Musical has some wonderfully imaginative moments and a sparkling cast under the fast-paced direction of Pam MacKinnon.
