Last night, November 14, Second Stage opened its much-anticipated production of Little Miss Sunshine. This new musical comedy is based on the film of the same name by Michael Arndt. It was adapted for the stage by Tony Award-winning team James Lapine, who wrote the book, and William Finn, who wrote the lyrics and music. Little Miss Sunshine's run has now been extended through Dec 15.

For over 13 years, Steele Spring has provided performance stage rights for musicals and plays to professional and amateur theater companies, universities, and stage societies across the country.
The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) presents the world premiere of Fun Home, directed by Sam Gold. Featuring music by Jeanine Tesori, book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, and based on Alison Bechdel book, Fun Home will run through Sunday, November 17. George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint have announced casting for the opening production for the venerable theatre's fortieth season. Gettin' The Band Back Together (formerly titled Garage Band) is a rockin' valentine to the Garden State, and will be directed by Tony Award-winner John Rando - who also helmed The Toxic Avenger in New Brunswick (and New York) a few seasons back. Gettin' The Band Back Together will rock the house beginning Tuesday, September 24 and continue through Sunday, October 27. Opening night is set for Friday, October 4. Gettin' The Band Back Together is performed by special arrangement with Davenport Theatrical Enterprises, Inc. and Roy Putrino.

Broadway and Off-Broadway producer Ken Davenport (Macbeth, Kinky Boots, Godspell, Altar Boyz, The Awesome 80's Prom) will present The Davenport Ten Minute Play Contest which will feature ten 10 minute plays or musicals on June 20th at 7pm at the Davenport Studios. The contest winner and recipient of a $500 grand prize will be decided by an industry panel of judges that will include Ken Davenport, two-time Drama Desk nominated director Ed Sylvanus Iskandar, Broadway producer Jhett Tolentino, and Spring Awakening actress Remy Zaken.
Broadway and Off-Broadway producer Ken Davenport (currently represented on Broadway with MACBETH and KINKY BOOTS) announces the second annual Davenport Ten Minute Play Contest! 10 ten minute plays or musicals will be selected from an open submission call to be featured in a presentation evening and vie for the title of 'Best Play/Musical' as chosen by a panel of industry professionals and audience vote. Last year finalists were selected out of hundreds of submissions and the winner was determined by a panel that included Ken Davenport, NYMF Executive Director Isaac Robert Hurwitz, musical theatre writer Joe Iconis, and writer/performer Sarah Saltzberg.
WALLFLOWERS, a narrative comedy web series by filmmaker Kieran Turner (director of acclaimed doc Jobriath A.D), world premieres this week with the first of five weekly episodes on Blip TV. Set in the cruelly comedic dating world of modern NYC, WALLFLOWERS details the disastrous romantic exploits of a tight knit group of Gen-X stragglers coping with the ecstasy and the agony of single life - as members of a Manhattan support group for the hopelessly single.
