This week, THEATER TALK welcomes Michael Urie and Jonathan Tolins,the star and writer of the hit off-Broadway comedy Buyer & Cellar at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, and theater journalists Adam Feldman and Suzy Evans with an April Broadway Update.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long previously announced that its production of the world premiere of Jesse Eisenberg's The Revisionist, starring Eisenberg and Vanessa Redgrave, and directed by Kip Fagan, will play an added performance today, April 17 at 2pm at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street.

As a public service for playgoers who do not understand French, nothing of any importance takes place in the final scene of Amy Herzog's Belleville.

Jesse Eisenberg and Vanessa Redgrave will star in the world premiere of Eisenberg's The Revisionist, directed by Kip Fagan, which opens tomorrow, February 21 at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street. The Revisionist is scheduled to run through March 31, 2013. Check out a photo preview below!

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Adam Rapp's Through The Yellow Hour is that the playwright/director has intentionally written a piece that will never be performed with a completely age-appropriate cast – at least not legally in this country – since it includes a fully nude, sexually suggestive scene between a thirty-year-old character and another who is fourteen.  But because the person playing the youth is obviously of age, the scene is likely to leave audience members thinking of the older character as someone who has learned to trust and be caring again, rather than as someone committing statutory rape.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announced today that its world premiere of Asuncion, the new comedy written by and starring Academy Award-nominee Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), will extend its run at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street). Originally scheduled to close on November 27, Asuncion will now play an additional three weeks and conclude following the Sunday, December 18th performance.

Last night, October 27, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater opened Asuncion, a new comedy by Academy Award-nominee Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) at The Cherry Lane Theatre. Tabloid theatre might be the best way of describing Dan Klores' The Wood, a drama that attempts hard-hitting, journalistic toughness in painting a somewhat nonobjective portrait of New York newspaper columnist Mike McAlary.  The author delivers a lot of ink-stained passion in his tale of a local kid who grew up worshipping the likes of Jimmy Breslin and Pete Hamill before becoming one of Gotham's most prized newshounds - jumping between Newsday, The Post and The Daily News whenever one offered more money - but weak storytelling leaves too many holes in the narrative and broad-stroke writing gives most of the actors little more than clichés to portray.

On Monday, November 30, The Fred Ebb Foundation in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company presented the fifth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, was be presented by Eric Schaeffer of the Signature Theatre in the Penthouse Lobby of The American Airlines Theater.

On Monday, October 5th, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (David van Asselt, Artistic Director) held its 15th Anniversary Gala Benefit at Caroline's Comedy Club. The celebratory evening was hosted by Rattlestick Benefit co-chairs Sandra Coudert, Lawrence Benenson and Colleen Jones. Guests included many of Rattlestick's distinguished alumni including playwrights Craig Wright, Lucy Thurber, Mando Alvarado and Adam Rapp, directors Lucie Tiberghien, Michael Ray Escamilla and Sam Gold, actors Thomas Sadoski, Deirdre O'Connell, Guy Boyd, Marylouise Burke, Matthew Stadelmann, Jessica Dickey and Bill Bowers, as well as many of the company's friends and longtime supporters.

Performances began on Thursday, June 4th. Opening night was Wednesday, June 10th. The show, originally scheduled to close on June 28th, will now run through Sunday, July 12th.
