The Latin Grammy nominated producer, and DJ, El Dusty has grown a cult following and garnered critical acclaim for his turntable styles and sampling chops since his viral single “K La Pasa.” Critical acclaim has hailed El Dusty as Rolling Stone's 10 New Artists You Need to Know, Billboard's New Latin Act to Watch, and Pandora's Latin Artists. Known for his collaborative nature and trendsetting beats, El Dusty is set to release his debut album Cumbia City, out May 11th with AfterCluv.

In an effort to tackle species extinction through art, British artist Louis Masai has transformed the side of a building in downtown Austin into a colorful mural of two endangered Houston toads. Austin is one of 12 U.S. cities Masai is visiting to paint murals of wildlife as part of The Art of Beeing tour. Masai created his Austin mural over the course of six days, from Nov. 12 - Nov. 17, in partnership with Austin-based Global Wildlife Conservation and World Class Capital Group.

Lucid Dramatics has announced a limited engagement of How to Be A Virgin (in 12 morally ambiguous steps) during the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2016. A world premiere play by Carla Neuss, it will take place at the Studio C Theatre in West Hollywood. Directed by Payden Ackerman, How to Be a Virgin is previewing on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 8:30pm before opening on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 8pm. The play will run for five performances through June 25 only.

FrenetiCore Dance's THE SNOW QUEEN is currently being performed at Frenetic Theatre in Houston. The show is a family friendly dance narrative about true friendship and the journey to find true love. The show, which is being funded in part by a City's Initiative Grant from Houston Arts Alliance, opened last weekend and will run for three more performances this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, December 10, 11, and 12 at 7:30pm. The story of THE SNOW QUEEN, popularized by Disney's FROZEN, is retold through the imagination of dancer and writer Adam Castaneda. I got the opportunity to chat with him recently, and I got to hear his thoughts about the show, his career, and about the Houston dance scene.
