In what has become an 'enjoyable tradition during the holiday season' (The New York Times), Ballet Hispanico in collaboration with the Apollo Theater makes its annual return to the Apollo stage, led by Eduardo Vilaro in his seventh season as Artistic Director. A trio of works will draw upon the innovation and versatility of one of the world's premier dance companies to capture contemporary Latino culture through movement. Winifred Haun & Dancers will make their way to Melbourne, Australia to collaborate with renowned Australian circus artist, Emma Serjeant, formerly of Casus Circus. Winifred Haun and Ms. Serjeant will co-create a new work that combines contemporary dance and circus. Currently titled "Trashed", this innovative movement-based work will, according to Ms. Haun, "explore our increasingly messy world, which is filled with way, way too much stuff. Humans are natural hoarders and we all have too many things. The real tragedy is that these things are taking priority over the other humans in our lives."

(CDI) returns as part of the Ruth Page Festival of Dance and marks the opening event of the 2016 Ravinia Season Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Ravinia's Bennett Gordon Hall. Ravinia is located at 418 Sheridan Rd., Highland Park and gates to the event open at 6:30 p.m. Regularly commissioned by Ravinia to present new works, the CDI performance will highlight a preview of Artistic Director Venetia Stifler's critically-acclaimed full-length work originally created in 1985 but reimagined for the 21st Century, "The Chicago Project: Future Present", and also feature guest company the Ruth Page Civic Ballet who will perform their complete work "Movements" that was created as part of their cultural exchange program with Cuba's Escuela Nacional de Ballet in 2015.
