Cornish Dance Theater Presents Fall 2014 Concert This Weekend

Cornish Dance Theater, the performing ensemble of the Dance Department at Cornish College of the Arts, will feature choreography by Iyun Ashani Harrison, Jose Limon, Vivian Little, Michele Miller, and Amy O'Neal at its Fall 2014 Concert, which takes place at the Cornish Playhouse this weekend, Nov. 21 and 22. Many of the pieces, including one world premiere from Harrison, focus on issues relevant to the dancers and today's college students.

Ruth Page Civic Ballet to Bring THE NUTCRACKER to Northeastern Illinois University, 12/6-7

The Ruth Page Civic Ballet is proud to present its annual production of The Nutcracker this holiday season playing December 6 - 7 at Northeastern Illinois University, 5500 N. St. Louis Ave. Co-directed by Victor Alexander and Dolores Lipinski Long, the ballet plays on Saturday, December 6 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 7 at 1 and 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $20 for seniors and children under the age of 12 and $5 for NEIU students, faculty and staff, per I.D. card. Also available is 'Tea with Clara,' a delightful tea party which patrons can enjoy with their favorite The Nutcracker characters from 3:15 - 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7. Tickets, which include admission to either show, are $85 for adults and $50 for children under the age of 12. Chicago Children's Theatre is making it easy for kids to try a theater class - and for their parents to slip out for a cup of coffee or to run a quick errand - with its new Stay & Play class, every Saturday during the fall run of its world premiere family musical, Leo Lionni's Frederick.

Joffrey Names Dancer Erica Lynette Edwards New Director of Community Engagement

Joffrey Ballet Artistic Director Ashley Wheater and Executive Director Greg Cameron announced today that Erica Lynette Edwards, a dancer with the Joffrey since 2000 who took on such roles as The Chosen One in Nijinsky's The Rite of Spring, fourth song soloist in Antony Tudor's Dark Elegies and the Fairy Godmother in Frederick Ashton's Cinderella, will retire following the engagement of Robert Joffrey's The Nutcracker (set to run at the Auditorium Theatre, December 5-28) to become the company's new Director of Community Engagement.
