Ruth Page Center for the Arts to Offer Free Day of Dance Classes, 3/9

The Ruth Page Center for the Arts is offering free dance and fitness classes for children and adults at their next Open House on Sunday, March 9 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Held in the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn St., beginner classes will be offered for children in Pre-Dance (ages 3-6), Acrobatics and Hip Hop (ages 7+), and beginner adult classes in Pilates, Salsa, Afro Cuban, Contemporary Modern, Jazz and Ballet, with more classes to be released on the Ruth Page website.

Matthew Rushing to Teach Ballet Master Class at Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 3/4-6

The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn St., announces that The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's Matthew Rushing will teach an Advanced Ballet Master Class as part of Ruth Page's 2014 Guest Artist Master Class Series on March 4 from 6 - 7:30 p.m., to be held in Ruth Page's own facilities. The class will be available at a first-come, first-serve drop-in basis and will be offered for $20 to the general public and $15 for industry professionals and college students. Ruth Page Honors Diane Rawlinson with 2014 Ruth Page Award

Venetia Stifler, Executive and Artistic Director of the Ruth Page Center for the Arts and The 2014 Ruth Page Award Committee has announced its selection for this year's Ruth Page Award. For her tireless dedication to teaching young dancers for almost 30 years not only the discipline of the art form, but also the importance of community philanthropy and citizenship, Diane Rawlinson has been selected as the 2014 Ruth Page Award recipient.

DANCE CHANCE Moves to Hubbard Street Dance Center, Beg. Tonight

Beginning tonight, January 31, 2014, DanceWorks Chicago's monthly program Dance Chance has a new home at the Lou Conte Dance Studio in the Hubbard Street Dance Center, 1147 West Jackson Boulevard in Chicago's West Loop. Launched in March 2008 with prior venue the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, Dance Chance has encouraged dialogue between artists and audiences, and prompted the creation of more than 100 original works in diverse forms and techniques.

Harris Theater Hosts Inaugural 'Eat (and Drink) to the Beat' with DanceWorks Chicago Tonight

Tonight, January 30, 2014 at 5:30PM, the Harris Theater for Music and Dance presents its first Eat (and Drink) to the Beat-a spinoff of the Theater's popular Eat to the Beat series-with a special 'Appy Hour' prior to a performance from the award-winning ensemble DanceWorks Chicago (DWC). Some of the city's hippest food trucks will be on site to provide audience members with a variety of 'apps' and food options. For the first time, the Theater will offer specialty cocktails and wine beverages to pair with food for a relaxing, post-work social gathering catered toward young business professionals of Chicago's downtown area.

Lawrence Leritz Set for Spotlite Radio, 12/23

Lawrence Leritz will chat about his career and upcoming theatre projects for 2014 at 10;48 am on Spotlite Radio, December 23, 2013. Leritz recently choreographed 'A Broadway Holiday Concert 2013' for Huntington Disease NY, choreographing songs by Cole Porter and original cast members from Broadway's Grease. Audiences will recognize Lawrence Leritz from his recent film roles in The Adjustment Bureau with Matt Damon and in Julie Taymor's musical Across The Universe. Lawrence made his film debut in 'Easy Money' opposite Rodney Dangerfield. Television includes 2013 Emmy Winner, Night Of Too Many Stars, performing in 'Call Me Maybe' with Carly Rae Jepsen and Harvey Keitel on Comedy Central. Other appearances include the Saturday Night Live, All My Children and the Michael J Fox Show. Lawrence is also the star of the best selling exercise DVD, Total Stretch!
