Los Angeles Ballet's 13th Season Opens 10/6

Los Angeles Ballet (www.losangelesballet.org), the city's own and only professional classical ballet company, announces its 2018-2019 Season that includes both classical and contemporary programming.

New Series MIT Performing Signals a Vibrant Performing Arts Series with MIT Performing

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) announces the new performing arts series MIT Performing, signaling a new destination in the performing arts scene in BostonCambridge. Curated by Professor Jay Scheib, the series launches with performance artist Adrienne Truscott's celebrated solo work THIS, Andrew Schneider's new production NERVOUSSYSTEM and Ayesha Jordan's one-woman sci-fi telenovela Shasta Geaux Pop, developed in collaboration with Charlotte Brathwaite, MIT Assistant Professor of Theater Arts. MIT Performing envisions an array of productions, lectures and new performance idioms throughout the year. Following on these three productions, internationally renowned solo performer Lisa Dwan will present her lecturedemonstration 'A Body of Beckett,' followed by a new theater work to be developed by director Jay Scheib with an international cast of collaborators.

Janis Brenner Comes to United Solo

Acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Janis Brenner will appear in the world premiere of the full-length dance/voice/theatre solo work, Inheritance: A Litany presented by the acclaimed United Solo Theatre Festival, October 4 & 11, 2018 at 7:30pm Off-Broadway at Theater Row, Off- NYC, at 410 W. 42nd St. Tickets are $45 in advance or at the door, and are available at 212-239-6200, at the theater, or at www.unitedsolo.org/us/inheritance-2018.

The London Film Festival Announces Full Lineup, Opening with European Premiere of Steve McQueen's WIDOWS

The 62nd BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express® today announces its full programme, featuring a diverse selection of 225 feature films from both established and emerging talent. This 12-day celebration of cinema illustrates the richness of international filmmaking, with films to delight and entertain audiences, and also films that probe and interrogate issues of significance.

Lucy Guerin Comes to Baryshnikov Arts Center This Fall

Baryshnikov Arts Center presents the U.S. Premiere of choreographer Lucy Guerin's Split, a duet that revels in the sharp, elegant choreographic investigations by one of Australia's leading dance-makers. This presentation, Thursday through Saturday, October 11-13 at 7:30PM in the Jerome Robbins Theater (450 W. 37th Street, Manhattan), marks Guerin's return to BAC, following the premiere of Corridor in 2009; her last New York season was in 2012.

Announcing Baryshnikov Arts Center's Fall 18 Season

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) announces the Fall 2018 BAC Presents season of music and dance presentations, which runs September 19 through December 5 . Tickets for performances at BAC (450 W. 37th Street, New York, NY) are on sale now, and can be purchased at bacnyc.org and 866 811 4111. Also this fall, BAC Residencies will provide support for the development of new works in theater, dance, music, and multimedia by artists from Minneapolis, Philadelphia, and New York City.

VIDEO: The Joyce Presents THE SARASOTA BALLET Beginning August 14th

The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) is pleased to present the return of The Sarasota Ballet, following its highly successful, critically acclaimed 2016 Joyce debut, from August 14-19, 2018. Under the Artistic Direction of Iain Webb, The Sarasota Ballet will present two programs featuring works by Tony Award-winner Christopher Wheeldon, Sarasota Ballet Resident Choreographer and Principal dancer Ricardo Graziano. and Sir Frederick Ashton, whose work the company has become renowned for executing with such skill and strength. Indeed, one of the programs has been designed to celebrate Ashton, commemorating the 30th anniversary of his death, and will include a guest performance by Marcelo Gomes.

Broadway's THE BOYS IN THE BAND Recoups

Producers David Stone, Scott Rudin, Patrick Catullo, Aaron Glick, and Ryan Murphy have announced that the hit Broadway production of Mart Crowley's groundbreaking play, THE BOYS IN THE BAND, has recouped its $3.5 million investment in just 11 weeks, with four weeks still remaining in the show's 15-week limited run.

Paola Hartley, Karl Condon And Ilya Kozadayev and More Will Be On Faculty For Shreveport Dance Academy's Summer Intensive

ZHONG-JING FANG, soloist of American Ballet Theatre, PAOLA HARTLEY, former principal dancer of Ballet Arizona, KARL CONDON, former principal dancer of the Boston Ballet, and ILYA KOZADAYEV, former soloist of the Houston Ballet will be on the Shreveport Dance Academy's Summer Intensive to be held in Shreveport, Louisiana.   Zhong-Jing Fang and Paola Hartley will be on the faculty from July 23-27, 2018, and Karl Condon and  Ilya Kozadayev will be on the faculty from July 30-August 3, 2018.

The Joffrey Ballet Receives $5 Million Gift To Establish Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director Position

The Joffrey Ballet has received a $5 million endowment gift from the Paul Galvin Memorial Foundation Trust in honor of Mary B. Galvin, a long-time supporter and Board Director of the Joffrey, to establish The Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director position. The gift will be distributed in two installments of $2.5 million over the next two years. Effective immediately, Ashley Wheater will assume the title of The Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director. The Galvin Foundation gift is the largest single endowment gift in Joffrey history, and the first to name a position at the Joffrey.

This year's event also feature a special recognition with The Future of Hollywood Award presented to actress Stephanie Beatriz and the Legacy Award to TONY Award winning actress, Julie Newmar.

The Joyce's Popular BALLET FESTIVAL Returns

The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) is thrilled to present the return of its highly anticipated Ballet Festival, a two-week showcase of some of America's most exciting contemporary ballet companies and choreographers with Joyce commissions on each program. The Festival, designed to recognize dancers and choreographers who are creating work outside the traditional large company setting - and, in many cases, forming their own companies - will take place from June 26 - July 7 at The Joyce Theater. This year's festival, supported by an endowment established with major support from the Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation, features the Joyce debuts of Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami and Barak Ballet, as well as the anticipated returns of Joshua Beamish/MOVETHECOMPANY, BalletX, and Ashley Bouder Project.
