Doce voces privilegiadas de jóvenes de entre 18 y 35 años darán muestra de lo aprendido en el Estudio de Ópera de Bellas Artes (EOBA) del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL). Los egresados de la sexta generación del EOBA se presentarán mañana a las 19:00 en la Sala Manuel M. Ponce del Palacio de Bellas Artes con un repertorio que incluye ensambles de Il trovatore y Don Carlo de Giuseppe Verdi y de La Clemenza di Tito y Le Nozze di Figaro de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, entre otras piezas de compositores como Giacomo Puccini y Francis Poulenc.
The Academy Invites 842 To Membership; 50% Are Women

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 842 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. The 2019 class is 50% women, 29% people of color, and represents 59 countries. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy's membership in 2019.

With a picnic hosted by the Board of Trustees, the Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University welcomes 2019 company members. Attended by CATF partners, donors, and community members, this annual event is the first time CATF's 2019 company comes to celebrate the six new plays they are about to create. Full cast and crew have been announced for Pride Films and Plays season closer - the world premiere of DESIRE IN A TINIER HOUSE by the Chicago playwright Ryan Oliveira, a 2016 Romulus Linney Scholar and Eugene O'Neill Theatre Conference semi-finalist. The production, which had a workshop by Chicago's Commission Theatre in 2017, will be directed by Pride Films and Plays Artistic Associate Topher Leon, who made the casting announcement today.
Raices Theatre Company To Produce Musical Version Of DESDE EL PUENTE

Raices Theatre Company, Western New York's premier Latinx theater production company, will stage the latest version of its Desde El Puente one-act play festival opening Friday, April 19th. This is the fourth edition of Raices' flagship play festival and the first one to include original music compositions developed by members of the Raices ensemble. 'This musical version seemed like a natural progression in our development of Desde El Puente and with our ensemble,' said Victoria Perez, Artistic Director of Raices. 'Musicals are my favorite way to tell a story. The Latino culture is, in part, driven by our music. Therefore it seems like the perfect way to continue to tell our stories.'

Merola Opera Program Announces 62nd Season

San Francisco's acclaimed Merola Opera Program, one of the most prestigious and selective opera training programs in the world, launches its 62nd season offering audiences a look at the opera stars of tomorrow. The 2019 Merola Summer Festival announces this year's 29 Merola artists, selected from more than 800 international applicants from as far away as Brazil, South Korea, New Zealand, and Colombia, as well as across the U.S. Along with the announced world premiere of If I Were You (August 1-6) by Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer, the singers will perform in the Schwabacher Summer Concert (July 11 & 13) and Merola Grand Finale (August 17).
