THE AUDIENCE Adds Preview Performances

Two further preview matinee performances (16 and 27 February 2013 at 2.30pm) have been scheduled for Stephen Daldry's production of Peter Morgan's The Audience.

Nicholas Martin Named Associate Artist of The Old Globe

The Old Globe today named director Nicholas Martin an Associate Artist of The Old Globe. He is the 56th artist to receive the prestigious honor recognizing over half a century of his unique contributions to the institution both on and offstage. After making his acting debut in 1957 as the Fool in King Lear, Martin went on to appear on the Globe stage in 18 additional productions, including The Merry Wives of Windsor (1965), The School for Scandal (1989) and Hamlet (1960 and 1990). As a director, he helmed the Globe productions of Later Life, Full Gallop, Overtime, Macbeth and The Mask of Moriarty. The Old Globe is currently celebrating the 100th anniversary of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion with Martin's production of Shaw's masterwork, which runs through Feb. 17. Today, Michael Riedel fills in a few more blanks in the New York Post, including word that producer Robert Fox has signed on, as well as director Richard Eyre (the National Theater, Mary Poppins). The show is next headed for a reading in London next week, followed by a summertime presentation at Lloyd Webber's annual Sydmonton Festival if all goes well. Riedel also adds that the composer wants Julian Ovenden (last seen in Death Takes a Holiday), to star.

Actor Michael Weston, known to TV audiences for his roles on House, Scrubs and an amazing guest star turn as 'Jake' in Six Feet Under, co-stars with Robert Foxworth, Jeannie Berlin, JoBeth Williams and Robin Weigert in Jon Robin Baitz' Other Desert Cities now previewing and opening at the Mark Taper Forum December 9. Weston, who replaced initially cast Justin Long, recently took a break from rehearsals to sit down and talk about the play and his theatrical interests. Weston is the son of Tony winner John Rubinstein.
