National Theatre Live to Broadcast Live Performance of THE AUDIENCE at London's Gielgud Theatre, June 13

Internationally acclaimed actress Helen Mirren's performance as The Queen in the world premiere of Peter Morgan's THE AUDIENCE, directed by Stephen Daldry, will be seen by cinema audiences worldwide when National Theatre Live broadcasts the play live from London's Gielgud Theatre on June 13, 2013, with varying dates internationally and encore screenings throughout the summer. THE AUDIENCE reunites Mirren and Morgan after collaborating on the 2006 film The Queen, in which Mirren also portrayed Elizabeth II, winning the Academy, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and BAFTA Awards for Best Actress for her performance. For their performances in THE AUDIENCE, both Mirren and Richard McCabe (as former Prime Minister Harold Wilson) won 2013 Olivier Awards for Best Actress and Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's STEPHEN WARD Eyes Aldwych Theatre as West End Home

According to the Daily Mail, Andrew Lloyd Webber's new musical STEPHEN WARD is eyeing the Aldwych Theatre as its West End home, with hopes to begin rehearsals in October in time for November previews. Its said that Lloyd Webber is also considering two other theaters in case Top Hat, which is currently running at the Aldwych, doesn't close in time for STEPHEN WARD.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's STEPHEN WARD Searches for West End Theatre; Aims for November Previews

According to the Daily Mail, Andrew Lloyd Webber's new musical STEPHEN WARD is still searching for a West End venue, with hopes to begin rehearsals in October in time for November previews. Lloyd Webber is looking for a mid-sized theatre; if the right one is not booked soon, the musical will be pushed back until late spring or early summer 2014.

Amphibian Announces National Theatre Live Screenings

Amphibian Stage Productions today announced additional National Theatre Live screenings for 2013, presented in association with the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Productions of The Audience, starring Helen Mirren, and Othello, broadcast from London, will follow the previously announced screenings of This House in the fourth season of this critically acclaimed series.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team of the San Diego premiere of Jon Robin Baitz's award-winning family drama Other Desert Cities. Directed by Richard Seer, Other Desert Cities will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, April 27 - June 2, 2013. Preview performances run April 27 - May 1. Opening night is Thursday, May 2 at 8:00 p.m. Other Desert Cities is a co-production with TheatreWorks Silicon Valley. Helen Mirren returns to the stage as The Queen in the world premiere of Peter Morgan's The Audience, with Michael Elwyn as Anthony Eden, Haydn Gwynne as Margaret Thatcher, Richard McCabe as Harold Wilson, Nathaniel Parker as Gordon Brown, Paul Ritter as John Major, Rufus Wright as David Cameron and Edward Fox as Winston Churchill. Robert Hardy Withdraws from THE AUDIENCE

The producers of The Audience today announced Robert Hardy's decision to withdraw from the production. Hardy, 87, recently suffered a fall and cracked some ribs, yet continued to perform at all of the preview performances last week. Over the weekend he has decided that a schedule of eight performances a week over a long run is not sustainable and he has therefore reluctantly decided to stand down. The Producers would like to thank Robert Hardy for his extraordinary contribution to the production and they wish him a speedy recovery.

According to the Daily Mail, The Audience, which just began performances in the West End starring Helen Mirren, will be filmed and broadcast live from the Gielgud Theatre for National Theatre Live on June 13, 2013. The production has already brought in nearly £4 million in ticket sales before its opening on March 5. The play is running through June 15.
