FOR HER AS A PIANO to Make World Premiere at Pegasus Theatre This Fall

Pegasus Theatre Chicago is pleased to launch its 2015-16 season with the world premiere drama FOR HER AS A PIANO by Nambi E. Kelley, playwright of the critically acclaimed 2014 hit Native Son, featuring music by Jaret Landon and directed by Producing Artistic Director Ilesa Duncan. Produced in association with Goodman Theatre and Chicago Dramatists, FOR HER AS A PIANO will play September 30 - November 1, 2015 at Chicago Dramatists, 1105 W. Chicago Ave. in Chicago.

When Manuel gets a scholarship to study at Oxford, he's faced with the realization that he can't leave the USA. He takes on The Statue of Liberty in the fight of a lifetime; the high-stakes boxing match that is immigration today. Is Manuel worthy? No one is spared in this political comedy that pulls no punches about immigration reform and the American Dream.

Crain's Adds Goodman Theatre to Program Book Lineup

Crain's Custom Media, a division of Crain's Chicago Business, is the new publisher of the Goodman Theatre's program books, starting with its 91st season this September. In addition to publishing programs for the Goodman, Chicago's oldest and largest not-for-profit theater, Crain's publishes programs for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, now entering its 125th season, and the Joffrey Ballet, now entering its 60th season.

Actors Theatre of Louisville Receives Grant from The Roy Cockrum Foundation

Actors Theatre of Louisville's Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein announce that the theatre is the recipient of a major grant awarded from The Roy Cockrum Foundation in support of the theatre's prestigious Apprentice/Intern Company. The award will support grants over the next ten years for each apprentice and intern during the nine-month program, and provides year-round employment for the program's leadership. The Apprentice/Intern Company offers total immersion into the world of a major American regional theatre and a unique combination of performance, training, observation and networking.

Jesse Eisenberg's THE SPOILS Opens Off-Broadway

The New Group presents the world premiere production of The Spoils, a new play written by and featuring Jesse Eisenberg, directed by Scott Elliott. This production will feature Erin Darke, Annapurna Sriram and Michael Zegen, and as previously announced, Jesse Eisenberg and Kunal Nayyar. The show opens tonight, June 2, for a limited Off-Broadway engagement slated through June 28 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street).

BURIED CHILD with Ed Harris and Amy Madigan, Cynthia Nixon-Helmed STEVE & More Set for The New Group's 2015-16 Season

The New Group has announced three productions for its 2015-2016 Season.  The company's new season kicks off in Summer 2015 with the Off-Broadway premiere of Philip Ridley's Mercury Fur, directed by Scott Elliott.  The season continues in Fall 2015 with the world premiere of Mark Gerrard's Steve, with director Cynthia Nixon returning to The New Group, where she made her directorial debut earlier this year.  In Winter 2016, Scott Elliott directs Sam Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Buried Child, featuring Ed Harris and Amy Madigan, who return to The New Group with this production.

Goodman Theatre Plans for Alice B. Rapoport Center for Education and Engagement

Goodman Theatre Board of Directors Chair Joan Clifford, Artistic Director Robert Falls and Executive Director Roche Schulfer announce plans to establish the "Alice B. Rapoport Center for Education and Engagement"-a $15 million expansion effort that realizes the theater's 30-year commitment to using its art as education: empowering and inspiring individuals through the process of creating and experiencing live theater.

Sideshow Theatre Company Sets Full 2015-16 Season

Sideshow Theatre Company is pleased to announce its full 2015/16 Season, beginning this fall with the world premiere of Hansol Jung's surreal and mischievous new comedy NO MORE SAD THINGS, directed by Elly Green. Next winter, the season continues with another world premiere, David Jacobi's chilling new drama MAI DANG LAO directed by artistic associate Marti Lyons. The season concludes next spring with CAUGHT, a new, head-spinning collaboration with playwright Christopher Chen, Chicago's Xiong Art Gallery and director Seth Bockley. The New Group has announced complete casting for the world premiere production of The Spoils, a new play written by and featuring Jesse Eisenberg, directed by Scott Elliott. This production will feature Erin Darke, Annapurna Sriram and Michael Zegen, and as previously announced, Jesse Eisenberg and Kunal Nayyar.

Amanda Seyfried & Marin Ireland Join The New Group's Starry Reading of HURLYBURLY

The New Group has announced that Marin Ireland and Amanda Seyfried will join original cast members from the company's critically-acclaimed 2005 hit revival of Hurlyburly: Bobby Cannavale, Josh Hamilton, Ethan Hawke, Parker Posey and Wallace Shawn, in the previously announced one-night-only benefit reading of David Rabe's award-winning play. Directed by Scott Elliott, this benefit reading within The New Group's current 20th Anniversary Season takes place Sunday, April 26 at The New Group at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street).
