Casting is complete and rehearsals begin December 16 for 2666, a new stage adaptation of acclaimed Chilean author Roberto Bolaño's famed novel, adapted and directed by Tony Award-winning Artistic Director Robert Falls and Playwright-in-Residence Seth Bockley at Goodman Theatre.

Goodman Theatre announces casting for Another Word for Beauty, a world premiere music-filled work by Academy Award nominee Jose Rivera with music by Grammy Award winner Hector Buitrago.

The New Group has announced full casting for the company's production of Sam Shepard's Buried Child. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production will feature Larry Pine (Casa Valentina), Rich Sommer ('Mad Men'), Paul Sparks ('House of Cards') and Nat Wolff (Paper Towns), and as previously announced, Taissa Farmiga, Ed Harris and Amy Madigan. Previews begin February 2 in advance of an Official Opening Night on Wednesday, February 17. A limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated through March 13 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street).

Goodman Theatre announces it will produce the world premiere of War Paint, a new musical that charts the ascent and arch-rivalry of cosmetics entrepreneurs Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden. Patti LuPone, who 'generates more raw excitement than any other performer on Broadway' (The New York Times), and Christine Ebersole, a 'first-class, revitalizing master of period style' (The New York Times), respectively star as Rubinstein and Arden, the brilliant innovators with humble roots who shrewdly navigated the 1930s male-dominated business world to forever change the business of beauty. Directed by Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal, If/Then, Grey Gardens), War Paint reunites Scott Frankel and Michael Korie-the acclaimed composer and lyricist team of Grey Gardens and Far From Heaven-with Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Doug Wright (Grey Gardens, I Am My Own Wife, The Little Mermaid). The musical is inspired by the book, War Paint, by Lindy Woodhead and the documentary film, The Powder & the Glory, by Ann Carol Grossman and Arnie Reisman.  

The Trap Door Theatre is proud to announce a two-week extension for THE FAIRYTALE LIVES OF RUSSIAN GIRLS, written by Meg Miroshnik and drected by Nicole Wiesner. The production will now close on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 8PM.

Goodman Theatre announces a change in its 2015/2016 schedule. Leonard Bernstein's classic musical Wonderful Town, previously announced for Spring/Summer 2016, will be rescheduled to September and open the Goodman's upcoming 2016/2017 Season. The move increases the potential for artistic collaborations that affect the future life of Tony Award winning Manilow Resident Director Mary Zimmerman's major revival. A replacement Albert Theatre production for Spring/Summer 2016 will be announced soon. Today in 2000, Aida opened at the Palace Theatre, where it ran for 1852 performances. Aida is a musical with music by Elton John, lyrics by Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton, Robert Falls, and David Henry Hwang. Aida was nominated for five Tony Awards and won four Tony Awards in 2000, including Best Musical Score and Best Performance by a Leading Actress. Aida was also named by Time Magazine in 2000 as one of the top ten theatre productions of the year. The First National tour was nominated for nine National Broadway Theatre awards (now 'Touring Broadway Awards') and won five awards, including Best Musical, Best Direction, Best Actor, and Best Actress.
