THE MUSIC MAN Comes To Nevada Conservatory Theater At UNLV 5/1-5/10

The Nevada Conservatory Theatre at UNLV is pleased to present the classic musical, 'The Music Man,' May 1-10 in the Judy Bayley Theatre. Directed by Michael Barakiva and choreographed by Brodway's Mimi Quillin, the production features Brodway veterans Patrick Ryan Sullivan as Harold Hill and Teri Bibb as Marian Paroo.

Ford's Theater Sets Daytime Programming For Spring 2009

The Ford's Theatre Society announced that the daytime programming schedule for spring 2009 will include performances of the one-act plays One Destiny and The Road From Appomattox by Richard Hellesen.

Lee & Brown: LIGHTING THE FUSE Begins At Wayside 8/29

Wayside Theatre Artistic Director Warner Crocker announced today the performance of Robert E. Lee and John Brown; Lighting the Fuse in our 2009-2010 Season. This play with music is written by Crocker with music by Wayside Theatre resident composer Steve Przybylski. The production is one of the planned events for the 150th Anniversary of the John Brown 1859 Raid on Harpers Ferry. Robert E. Lee and John Brown; Lighting the Fuse begins performances on August 29 and close on September 26. The John Brown 150 Anniversary Quad State Committee is planning and coordinating events to commemorate the 1859 Raid on the Arsenal at Harper's Ferry, VA.

Ford's Theatre Society Hosts 2 Open Houses 2/12 And 2/16

The National Park Service and Ford's Theatre Society will host two open houses in the newly renovated Ford's Theatre (511 10th Street NW) on February 12, 2009, and February 16, 2009. The theatre will be open to the general public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free tickets will be available at the Ford's Theatre Box Office beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day.

Willows Theatre Presents Mame, Nov. 17 - Dec. 28

If there's patron saint of laughing in the face of hard economic times it's Mame Dennis, aka "Auntie Mame," the larger-than-life central figure in the award-winning musical Mame, scheduled to run at the Willows Theatre in Concord, November 17-December 28, 2008. The Willows Theatre is located at 1975 Diamond Blvd. (in the Willows Shopping Center), Concord, CA 94520.

The Met's acclaimed production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly, directed by the late Academy Award-winning film director Anthony Minghella, returns to the stage for twelve performances beginning Friday, October 24, 2008. Reprising their portrayals in the production this season are sopranos Patricia Racette and Cristina Gallardo-Domâs in the title role, tenors Roberto Aronica and Marcello Giordani as Pinkerton, and baritone Dwayne Croft as Sharpless. Patrick Summers conducts the opera for the first time at Met.

SCR's David Emmes & Martin Benson Awarded Margo Jones Medal

South Coast Repertory Artistic Directors David Emmes and Martin Benson have been named the recipients of the 2007-08 Margo Jones Medal. The prestigious award honors those who have demonstrated a significant impact, understanding and affirmation of the craft of playwriting, with a lifetime commitment to the encouragement of the living theater everywhere. The venerable duo has guided South Coast Repertory from a small touring company into one of the country's leading professional theaters, now approaching its 45th season and known world-wide for its development of new work for the stage. The Ohio State University Libraries and College of the Arts will present the award to Emmes and Benson on May 1 at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, California, kicking off the theater's nationally-renowned Pacific Playwrights Festival.

Inherit the Wind Revival Ends Limited Run July 8

The limited run of Inherit the Wind, starring two time Tony Award-winners Christopher Plummer and Brian Dennehy ends on Sunday, July 8. It will have played 27 previews and 100 regular performances.
