The Sherman Playhouse is seeking 13 men and 14 women for its summer production of the Tony Award-winning musical Mame, with book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, and Music & Lyrics by Jerry Herman. The call is searching for a cast aged between 7 and 70-plus.

Mame is the popular and renowned musical that features the fun-loving, wealthy, and eccentric Mame Dennis, whose life is turned upside-down when she becomes the guardian of her 10-year-old nephew, Patrick. It's the Roaring '20s, and to Mame, "Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!" Mame's wild and adventurous spirit will strike a hilarious and poignant chord with everyone who loves living life to the fullest.

Mame is under the direction of Craig David Rosen of Danbury and the musical direction of Sarah Fay.

The auditions will be held on Saturday, April 18, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Auditions will take place at The Sherman Playhouse, located at 5 Route 39 North (the intersection of Route 37 and 39) in Sherman, Conn.

Auditioners should come prepared with 16 bars of an up-tempo Broadway show tune and a ballad. In addition, auditioners should dress in comfortable clothes to be prepared for a movement audition. Singing and non-singing roles are available and both professionals and amateurs are
welcome. No appointments are necessary.

Call Craig David Rosen at 917-699-4045 or contact him via email at craigdavidrosen@yahoo.com with questions. Visit www.theshermanplayhouse.org for a cast breakdown, directions, or more information.

Rehearsals begin in May (usually Monday through Thursday evenings) with performances running from July 17 to August 15 on Fridays, Saturdays, and two Sundays: April 26 and August 2.
