Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, America's beloved cultural ambassador to the world, completes its coast-to-coast North American tour at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) Friday-Sunday, May 6-8, 2022. 

Nikki is joined on stage by Robert Battle, artistic director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre; Rachel Chavkin, director of Tony and Grammy-winning Broadway musical Hadestown; and playwright Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu, author of Pass Over, the first Broadway play to open after the pandemic.

Celebrating a decade of Artistic Director Robert Battle's leadership, the one-night-only program presents Ailey's extraordinary dancers in a special anniversary program culminating in Alvin Ailey's beloved masterpiece, Revelations.

Ailey II, the celebrated second company to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, returns to its home, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, for a highly anticipated two-week season featuring 10 performances from March 23 - April 3.

Today's episode features Lorin Latarro- the choreographer for Broadway’s MRS. DOUBTFIRE, ALMOST FAMOUS, The Public’s THE VISITOR, and Broadway bound THE OUTSIDERS and LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE. 

The pandemic changed the world and it changed art - most immediately in closing places where people would gather for it, for months on end.

The Auditorium Theatre (50 E. Ida B. Wells Drive) will present the return of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, America’s beloved cultural ambassador to the world, for six performances only, March 2-6, 2022.

Ailey II will return to stages across the country this winter. Ailey II Artistic Director Francesca Harper—an internationally renowned performer, choreographer, director, and multi-disciplinary artist—is nurturing new creative voices and propelling the Company forward during her inaugural season.

There is almost nothing consistent anymore in life with the current state of affairs but when Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater comes to town, things almost feel normal again. The company will be performing in the Kennedy Center Opera House starting tonight through February 6th with four different programs to choose from.

The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater heated up a subdued and snow-drenched Philly audience January 28 – 30 with an admirable, often stunning return to the stage at the Kimmel Cultural Campus’ Academy of Music, ending a long, pandemic-driven tour hiatus.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, America's beloved cultural ambassador to the world, returns to stages on a coast-to-coast National Tour starting January 28 in Philadelphia, kicking off Black History Month at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on February 1 ,  and traveling to cities like Atlanta, Miami, Berkeley, Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles before the finale in Newark on May 8.

Dancer Michael Jackson, Jr. of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater ponders legacy, improv, and meditation through movement in advance of the company’s first tour stop at Philadelphia Kimmel Cultural Campus’ Academy of Music. Ms. Green joined the company this past year, in 2021, after a successful digital season Whim W’Him Seattle Contemporary Dance following her 2020 graduation from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA with a BFA in dance.

Dancer Michael Jackson, Jr. of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater talks inspirations, anticipations, and coming back from Covid lockdown in advance of the company’s first tour stop at Philadelphia Kimmel Cultural Campus’ Academy of Music. Mr. Jackson first joined the company in 2011 after working with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, and Philadanco.

Upcoming offerings include: Ailey All Access, a returning online initiative featuring a series of performance broadcasts January 31 – June 20; a virtual educational performance experience will introduce young audiences to the magic of Ailey; Ailey Extension's dance and fitness classes program invites fans around the world to join in the dance with new workshops; and viewers are encouraged to explore the life and work of a brilliant and enigmatic genius through feature-length documentary portrait, AILEY.

The Ailey organization committed to furthering the pioneering vision of its founder Alvin Ailey continues to find ways to build community, inspire, and celebrate the indomitable human spirit through dance with a new slate of digital programing in conjunction with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's national tour marking Artistic Director Robert Battle's 10th anniversary and 50 years of Cry.

The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater brings its renowned repertory of modern dance to Philadelphia from January 28 to 30. Along with its signature, spiritual-inspired masterpiece, Revelations, performances will feature groundbreaking works of ballet, jazz, and modern choreography.

The acclaimed Ailey American Dance Theater returns February 1-6 to the Kennedy Center Opera House stage, led by Robert Battle on his 10th anniversary as Artistic Director, with seven performances featuring a mix of new productions, a D.C. premiere, and enduring favorites.

From January 11 through May 8, audiences across the country will have the opportunity to experience the extraordinary artistry of Ailey with a cornucopia of performances and programs, including two national tours—by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Ailey II—as well as the nationwide broadcast of the acclaimed documentary film AILEY, with its immersive portrait of dance pioneer Alvin Ailey, and the continuation of Ailey All Access, the organization's digital programming for all audiences.

Society for the Performing Arts will present Houston favorite, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 7:30 PM, followed by performances on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM.

The Ailey organization is sharing the gift of Holiday Revelations with a free broadcast of the #ReunitedWeDance Opening Night Gala on Wednesday, December 22 at 10am ET.
