Ron Legler, President of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, home of the Hippodrome Theatre, has announced the lineup of shows for the new 2018/19 Hippodrome Broadway Series. With seven shows direct from Broadway and two Season Options, the season is anchored by the Baltimore premiere of HAMILTON, in addition to new musicals, Blockbuster Tony Award-winners and returning audience favorites.

Child Casting Announced For The UK and Ireland Tour Of MATILDA

Today, the Royal Shakespeare Company announces the child casting for the first five venues of the Matilda The Musical 2018/19 UK and Ireland Tour. The title role will be shared by Annalise Bradbury, Lara Cohen, Poppy Jones and Nicola Turner. The West End production will continue to play at the Cambridge Theatre, where it is now in its seventh year and is booking until 10 February 2019.

The one-week camps introduce children grades 1 to 10 to the world of art using unique, book-based themes. It is somewhat of an unspoken rule in community theatre that if it's Disney, it sells. This magic word, in combination with the team that made the Cloris Award-sweeping Young Frankenstein last summer, ought to make the Playhouse's production a surefire hit. Luckily, the math adds up for the Playhouse even if the production lacks cohesion at times and is not the best musical adaptation Disney has created.
