Broadway In Boston is proud to announce that tickets for THE BAND'S VISIT, one of the most Tony Award-winning musicals in history, will go on sale this Monday, September 16, 2019. With a Tony- and Grammy-winning score that seduces your soul and sweeps you off your feet, and featuring thrillingly talented onstage musicians, THE BAND'S VISIT rejoices in the way music makes us laugh, makes us cry, and ultimately, brings us together.  THE BAND'S VISIT will play the Citizens Bank Opera House March 24 a?" April 5 as part of the Lexus 2019-2020 Broadway In Boston Season.

I really enjoyed the Eran Kolirin's 2007 Israeli-Egyptian film 'The Band's Visit' . The story involved the Alexandria Ceremonial Police Orchestra who get lost in Israel on their way to a concert performance at the Arab Cultural Center in a large city named Petal Tikvah and instead the bus they take arrives at the small town of Bet Hatikva. With the next bus not due until the next day, the musicians are invited to spend the night with the town natives (there is no hotel) and have dinner. The moving film tackles the subject of Egyptians and Israelis in 1996 who in 1967 had a hard-fought war on the Sinai Peninsula.

The national tour, now playing the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, gave me the opportunity to take another look at the show. Let's just say I'm really glad I had the opportunity.

As a part of the special concert series, Musical Mondays, Second Stage Theater has announced Adam Chanler-berat, Lawrence Clayton, Jennifer Damiano, Louis Hobson, Tamika Lawrence, Isaac Powell, Alice Ripley, Amy Spanger, J. Robert Spencer, Pearl Sun and Aaron Tveit will perform Next To Normal: A Concert Celebration.

'Oh What A Night' indeed! The real life Bob Gaudio visited the Muny's production of Jersey Boys last night, July 15. He came onstage to talk to the audience following the performance, and met the cast after the show.

The Muny's first rainout of its historical centennial season took place during the Saturday, July 14 performance of the world regional premiere of Jersey Boys. While Mother Nature had plans of her own, that did not stop Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons from treating Muny-goers to a special accapella rendition of the chart-topping hit "Sherry." The Muny announced today its full cast and design teams for the world regional premiere of Jersey Boys, July 9 - 16. This will be the first licensed production of Jersey Boys in the world. Jersey Boys is proudly sponsored by BMO Harris Bank.

After its acclaimed Broadway, touring and international productions, The Muny will be the first theatre in the world to create its own production of Jersey Boys. The Muny announced today the iconic leading quartet will star Emmy-nominated Mark Ballas as Frankie Valli, Bobby Conte Thornton as Bob Gaudio, Nicolas Dromard as Tommy DeVito and Keith Hines as Nick Massi. The fourth production in the theatre's centennial season, Jersey Boysruns July 9 - 16. Jersey Boys is directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes with music direction by Rick Bertone. Jersey Boys is proudly sponsored by BMO Harris Bank.

Due to demand, The New Group has announced a three-week extension for Jerry Springer - The Opera, with Matt McGrath appearing as Jerry Springer beginning March 13.  Terrence Mann, currently appearing in the role of Jerry Springer, plays his final performance March 11 due to an existing commitment beyond that date.

The New Group has announced full casting for the Off-Broadway premiere JERRY SPRINGER - THE OPERA with Jennifer Allen, Florrie Bagel, Brandon Contreras, Sean Patrick Doyle, Bradley Greer, Luke Grooms, Nathaniel Hackmann, Billy Hepfinger, Justin Keyes, Beth Kirkpatrick, Elizabeth Loyacano, Tiffany Mann, Jill Paice, Kim Steele and Nichole Turner joining, as previously announced, Terrence Mann and Will Swenson. Jerry Springer The Opera features Music by Richard Thomas and Book & Additional Lyrics by Stewart Lee and Richard Thomas, with Choreography by Chris Bailey. John Rando directs. This production includes Set Design by Derek McLane, Costume Design by Sarah Laux, Lighting Design by Jeff Croiter, Sound Design by John Shivers, Projection Design by Olivia Sebesky, Orchestrations by Greg Anthony Rassen and Music Direction by Michael Brennan. Previews begin January 23 in advance of an Official Opening Night on Thursday, February 22.
