Photo Flash: HAMILTON's Wayne Brady and More Celebrate SPAMILTON's Chicago Opening

SPAMILTON, the critically acclaimed off-Broadway parody of Lin-Manuel Miranda's sensation, officially opened on Sunday, March 12 at the Royal George Theatre in Chicago. In attendance that evening were HAMILTON Chicago cast members, including Wayne Brady. The cast party took place at Balena, next door to the Royal George Theatre, and BroadwayWorld has photos from the festivities below!

Original Cast Recording of SPAMILTON Drops Tomorrow

DRG Records (Hugh Fordin, President) and Spamilton producers John Freedson, Christine Pedi, David Zippel, and Gerard Alessandrini announced that the Original Cast Recording of Spamilton, the critically acclaimed parody of Broadway smash Hamilton, by Forbidden Broadway creator Gerard Alessandrini, will be released on DRG Records tomorrow, March 3rd, 2017.

All-Chicago Cast Set for SPAMILTON at Royal George Theatre

"Spamilton," the critically acclaimed off-Broadway parody of Lin-Manuel Miranda's sensation, "Hamilton," has set casting for its regional premiere in Chicago at the Royal George Theatre (1641 N. Halsted). Created by Tony Award honoree Gerard Alessandrini, the mastermind behind "Forbidden Broadway," the show features an all-Chicago ensemble including Donterrio Johnson, Adam LaSalle, Michelle Lauto, Eric Andrew Lewis, Yando Lopez and David Robbins. "Spamilton" begins performances Friday, March 3 at the Royal George Theatre's Cabaret/Studio Theatre.

Smash Hit SPAMILTON To Play Chicago In 2017

Spamilton, the critically acclaimed off-Broadway parody of Broadway smash Hamilton, created by Gerard Alessandrini, the mastermind behind Forbidden Broadway, announced today that the show will open its first production outside New York this spring for a strictly limited 12-week engagement.

New IRVING BERLIN'S AMERICA Cast Album Out Now

A new cast album for ASCAP Award-winning writer/director Chip Deffaa's musical play "Irving Berlin's America" (published and licensed by Steele Spring Stage Rights) is being released today.   Michael Townsend Wright and Matthew Nardozzi co-star on the new album.  An earlier cast album of the show, with Wright and Giuseppe Bausilio--co-stars of the first New York production at the 13th Street Theater--will continue to be available.  Both albums are being distributed in the US by CDBaby, and are available now  from Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, Footlight Records, etc.

CHIP DEFFAA SONGBOOK Album to Be Released 11/30

'The Chip Deffaa Songbook'--a two-CD set, featuring nearly 40 theater-songs by ASCAP Award-winning playwright/songwriter  Chip Deffaa--will be released November 30th.  The album features songs that Deffaa wrote or co-wrote for such shows of his as 'Theater Boys,' 'The Seven Little Foys,' 'Mad About the Boy,' 'Yankee Doodle Dandy,' 'The Family That Sings Together,' 'The Fanny Brice Story,' 'Song-and-Dance Kids,' and 'George M. Cohan Tonight!'  

SPAMILTON Parody Show Gets Its Shot, Opens Tonight at the Triad

Spamilton, a sneak peek into Forbidden Broadway creator Alessandrini's ongoing obsession with Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton, has extended through October 30, due to popular demand. The musical, which promises an evening that celebrates, roasts and eviscerates the Broadway blockbuster, will celebrate an official opening night tonight, September 8, 2016 at the Triad (158 West 72nd Street).

IRVING BERLIN SONGBOOK Album to be Released on August 16th

Award-winning playwright/director Chip Deffaa's 'Irving Berlin Songbook' album--part of an ongoing 'Irving Berlin Project' which Deffaa has been developing at the 13th Street Theater in New York City--will be released August 16th.  The album--with two-dozen members of New York's theatrical community singing 29 rare Berlin songs--includes many songs that have never before  been recorded.  Deffaa--one of the world's foremost authorities on Berlin's music and the author of five different shows about him--went through every song in the Berlin archive, some 1500 in all, in preparation for the project.
