BWW Review: MALORY TOWERS, York Theatre Royal

After a sparkling debut last year with an adaptation of Angela Carter's Wise Children, Emma Rice's company of the same name returns for its second outing with another literary classic - Malory Towers.

Nostalgic, naughty and perfect for now, Malory Towers is the original 'Girl Power' story. Join Wise Children for high jinks, high drama and high spirits, all set to sensational live music and breathtaking animation, at HOME Manchester, Tue 24 - Sat 28 September. Co-produced by York Theatre Royal in association with Bristol Old Vic, Malory Towers, based on the novels of Enid Blyton, is adapted and directed by Emma Rice.

Check out photos for the national tour of Emma Rice's adaptation of Enid Blyton's MALORY TOWERS. The show officially opens this Thursday 25 July at The Passenger Shed in Bristol, running there until 18 August 2019. The tour then continues until 5 October 2019.

Emma Rice's MALORY TOWERS Announces Full Cast

Wise Children's adaptation of Enid Blyton's Malory Towers, co-produced by York Theatre Royal in association with Bristol Old Vic, will star Rebecca Collingwood as Gwendoline Lacey, Mirabelle Gremaud as Irene Bartlett, Vinnie Heaven as Bill Robinson, Izuka Hoyle as Darrell Rivers, Renee Lamb as Alicia Johns, Francesca Mills as Sally Hope and Rose Shalloo as Mary Lou Atkinson. Adapted and directed by Emma Rice, the musical opens on 25 July 2019 at The Passenger Shed in the company's home city of Bristol, before embarking on a national tour to Cambridge, York, Exeter, Manchester and Oxford.

Fuel in association with Stratford Circus Arts Centre presents Gyre & Gimble's The Hartlepool Monkey. The legend of a monkey who was hanged as a French spy is brought to life through clever puppetry in a timely tale exploring xenophobia, written by Carl Grose and created by Carl Grose, Finn Caldwell and Toby Oli . The show is on a UK tour now through 18 November and will open at Stratford Circus Arts Centre on 28th September, 7pm. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

BWW Review: LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST and MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, Theatre Royal, Haymarket

The Royal Shakespeare Company have burst back to the West End with their double bill of Love's Labour's - both Lost and Won. This pairing really is a remarkable achievement. Set in the summer of 1914 and the winter of 1918, director Christopher Luscombe has combined the charm and elegance of an Edwardian country estate with a wit, silliness and sense of play that would surely have made Will proud.

Actress Lisa Dillon's numerous stage credits include King John at Rose Theatre, Kingston, Hapgood at Hampstead Theatre, Design for Living at the Old Vic, The Knot of the Heart at the Almeida, and The Taming of the Shrew for the RSC. She's back with the RSC playing Rosaline and Beatrice in Love's Labour's Lost and Much Ado About Nothing respectively. The acclaimed double bill, set either side of the First World War, begins previews at Theatre Royal Haymarket on 9 December.

Edward Bennett and Lisa Dillon Lead RSC's MUCH ADO and LOVE'S LABOURS LOST London Transfer

The RSC's hugely acclaimed 2014 pairing of Love's Labour's Lost and Much Ado About Nothing (or Love's Labour's Won) arrives in London this Christmas, following runs at Chichester Festival Theatre and Manchester Opera House. From 9 December 2016 to 18 March 2017, Edward Bennett and Lisa Dillon will delight audiences at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in Christopher Luscombe's elegant, effervescent productions.
