The Auditorium Theatre Launches 'Made in Chicago' Series Today

Celebrating a milestone 125th Anniversary, the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University kicks off its inaugural 'Made in Chicago' performance series highlighting the city's best homegrown music and dance artists and ensembles. Launching in November, the robust series will present three Windy City mainstays including 'On Stage With... Susan Werner' (today, November 8); the perennially popular Orbert Davis' Chicago Jazz Philharmonic with 'CJP @ Ten' (November 14); and the award-winning Thodos Dance Chicago (November 29).

Auditorium Theatre Celebrates 125th Anniversary With Free Special Events, Beginning Tonight

Celebrating a milestone 125th Anniversary Season, Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University will open its doors for the entire community beginning tonight, October 31 with the first film in the 'Made in Chicago' Movie Series, 'Chicago,' and continuing on November 9 with Family Fun Day where all are welcome to experience the magic of the Auditorium Theatre while enjoying interactive activities, exciting crafts, special tours and more. Both events are free and open to the public.

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP), celebrating 25 years as the nation's premier presenter of American tap dance and contemporary percussive arts, honors Patti Eylar and Charlie Gardner and The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation with its JUBA! Award at Jubalee, CHRP's annual gala benefit supporting performance, education and community programs that reach more than 20,000 people every year. This special evening, hosted by Bill Kurtis, takes place tonight, October 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.

Chicago Dancing Festival Kicks Off Today

Chicago Dancing Festival 2014 will feature two more World Premieres, plus plans for a pre- and post-performance sponsors party around the 'Celebration of Dance' Grand Finale performance, Saturday, August 23. Free tickets for the Festival's indoor performances become available to the public this week, July 8 and 9. The 2014 Chicago Dancing Festival, featuring top ballet, modern and hip-hop companies from Chicago and across the country, is set to take place today, August 20 - 23.

Auditorium Theatre's 125th Anniversary Gala Set for 12/14

Exactly 125 years from when the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University opened its doors in 1889, the National Historic Landmark, led by Board Chairman Melvin L. Katten and Executive Director Brett Batterson, celebrates its milestone 125th Anniversary with a special performance, "Living the History - 125 Years of the Auditorium Theatre" on December 9, 2014. The celebratory evening, which begins with a star-studded program at the Auditorium Theatre (50 E Congress Pkwy), will include a tribute to the diverse entertainment that has been, and continues to be presented at the theatre including symphonic music, opera, Broadway musicals, rock music and dance. The performance will be immediately followed by a Gala Celebration Dinner at the Palmer House Hilton (17 E Monroe) to cap off the extraordinary night.

The Auditorium Theatre Selected as Fifth Star Honoree

The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, celebrating their 125th Anniversary Season, has been chosen as one of five honorees for the City of Chicago and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) inaugural Fifth Star Awards, celebrating the city's creativity through artists, arts advocates and cultural institutions. The free public celebration, also honoring dancer Lou Conte, artist Richard Hunt, Grammy-winning composer, pianist and radio personality Ramsey Lewis and arts advocate Lois Weisberg, will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 7:00 pm at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park (201 E. Randolph St.) and will feature live performances and tributes throughout the evening.
