InterAct Theatre Presents David Robson's ASSASSIN, Now thru 2/10

If you had the chance to apologize for something you did that ruined another person's life would you? What if that thing was part of what you were expected to do for your job? These questions and other dilemmas lie at the heart of InterAct Theatre Company's second show of its 25th Anniversary Season. Assassin by local playwright David Robson, a co-production with Act II Playhouse, takes an intimate look at hero worship, regret and forgiveness while examining America's fascination with sports violence. With recent media attention being paid to football related injuries, past and present, Assassin is particularly relevant.

Richard Kind, Mike Reiss and More Set for Barefoot Theatre Company's bareNaked Reading Series

Barefoot Theatre Company will kick off its new bareNaked Reading Series (Molly Marinik, Program Director; Jennie West, Co-Producer), a reading of a new play every second Monday of the month, starting Monday, January 14 with a 7pm reading of the new play SNOW ORCHID written & directed by Joe Pintauro ("Raft of the Medusa"), and featuring a cast of Angelina Fiordellisi (Cherry Lane Artistic Director), Francisco Solorzano (Barefoot Theatre Artistic Director), John Magaro ("Not Fade Away" opposite James Gandolfini), Cory Kosel, and Ray Abruzzo ("The Practice," "The Sopranos").

Jaybird Productions will present Oleanna by David Mamet, its inaugural production, at the Red Sandcastle Theatre, beginning a two-week run tonight, November 15, 2012. Written by David Mamet, Oleanna is a riveting two-hander that pits a college professor against his student, male against female, entitlement against lack, and intellectualism against simplicity creating a divide so great that there seems no way for these two to hope to understand one another. And they never do.

The complete cast of the upcoming production of Radiance includes Kelly AuCoin (Julius Caesar, Julie & Julia) and Ana Reeder (Top Girls, Sight Unseen), as well as Labyrinth Company Members Kohl Sudduth (The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Take Me Out) and Aaron Roman Weiner (Thinner Than Water, The Glass Menagerie).

Deadline reports that Johnny Depp's Production Co. Infinitum Nihil will team with Yellow Bird Productions and producer Tom Fontana for a scripted TV series which will be based on the works of William Shakespeare.

65th Annual Tony Awards Broadcast Honored with Fourth Emmy Award

The June 2012 broadcast of the 65th Annual Tony Awards was honored last night with a fourth Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special. The award was accepted by Glenn Weiss, who had previously won an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program in 2003 for the 56th Annual Tony Awards. The 2012 Tony Awards Telecast was also honored with three Emmy Awards, which were presented at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony last week.

2012/13 is a season of anniversaries and "firsts". It's Alumnae's 40th year in this historic building at 70 Berkeley Street. It's the 25th anniversary of the New Ideas Festival. And for those keeping track, the company is closing in on Alumnae's 100th birthday - February 2013 will mark # 95! Alumnae will officially celebrate its 100th season in 2019/2020 and present Moliere's Les Femmes Savantes, which was Alumnae Theatre's very first production, in February 1918.

TLC Renews Hit Bridal Series RANDY TO THE RESCUE for Second Season

TLC's hit series RANDY TO THE RESCUE - which premiered in June 2012 - has been renewed for a second season. Season two is slated to premiere in May 2013 with 10 hour-long episodes. Season one premiere episodes averaged 1.4M P2+ viewers.
