Queens Theatre ends its successful 2011-12 Season with GILBERT & SULLIVAN IN BRIEF(S), a musical farce celebrating the works of the Victorian duo, tonight, June 21 through July 1.

The Board of Directors of the Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company today announced the appointment of Jonathan Silverstein as Artistic Director. Mr. Silverstein succeeds Carl Forsman, founder and Artistic Director, who has been named Dean of Drama at UNC School of the Arts, beginning July 1st.

The Group Theatre Too, along with choreographer, Justin Boccitto and director, Kimberly Vaughn presents the all new Broadway Performance Project (BPP), an evening of young, aspiring Broadway bound talent performing on Wednesday, July 11th and Thursday, July 12th, 7:00pm at cabaret hub, The Triad.

The Tony-Award winning Alfie Boe releases his second album, Alfie, along with a DVD "Alfie Live," both available as of today, June 5th on Decca. With special guests including Robert Plant and Nick Jonas, the album is described as 'a collection of timeless pop songs and musical theatre favorites from such classics as Phantom of the Opera, Ragtime, West Side Story and Les Miserables to name a few.'

Berkshire Playwrights Lab will present the Berkshire Playwrights Lab 5th Season Gala Celebration on June 9 at 7:30pm and staged readings of new plays on July 11, July 23, August 8, and August 22 at 7:30pm at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center (14 Castle Street, Great Barrington, Mass.).

The stars were shining, including Chita Rivera, Marge Champion, Stephen Schwartz and more, in Flushing Meadows Corona Park Wednesday evening when Queens Theatre hosted its 2012 Gala Fundraiser, a star-studded celebration of the world premiere of HEAT WAVE: THE Jack Cole PROJECT, a new musical homage to legendary stage and screen choreographer Jack Cole. The event raised more than $150,000 for the theatre and its programs, including its educational and outreach programs that bring theatre and the arts to public school students. Patrick Riviere is now co-starring as the White Baron in the American Premiere of Armand Gatti's THE IMAGINARY LIFE OF STREET SWEEPER AUGUST G, which opens at Casa 0101 Theatre on April 20th in Los Angeles.
