Queens Theatre ends its successful 2011-12 Season with GILBERT & SULLIVAN IN BRIEF(S), a musical farce celebrating the works of the Victorian duo, June 21-July 1.

Written and directed by Queens Theatre Executive Director Ray Cullom, GILBERT & SULLIVAN IN BRIEF(S) is a laugh-out-loud night of pirates and sailors, modern major generals and damsels in distress that has been described as “Gilbert & Sullivan meets Saturday Night Live.” Four archetypal characters—a pompous Tenor (Matthew Thompson); a ditsy Soprano (Carolann Sanita); a past-her-prime Mezzo (Kate Chapman); an inebriated Baritone (Parker Andrews)—take audiences on a madcap musical race through all 14 of the duo’s operettas, from the well-known—The Pirates of Penzance, HMS Pinafore, The Mikado—to the obscure—Princess Ida, anyone?

Following its run at the Flushing Meadows Corona Park venue, the show will ship off to Edinburgh, Scotland where it will play for three weeks at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world’s most prestigious performing arts festival and showcase for new plays.

GILBERT & SULLIVAN IN BRIEF(S) plays Thursday, June 21 through Sunday, July 1 with performances Wednesday through Friday at 7:30pm and Saturday at 8pm with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 3pm.

Tickets, priced at $42 for weekday performances and $49 for weekend performances, are available. Online at www.queenstheatre.org.
